Shift Kit Owners, chime in.

At age 19, I had this:
My folks bought it brand new in November 1987 (it was an '88), then sold it to me a year later when my Mom got her '90 Corvette.
Obviously, that car got me more tail than I probably deserved.

Hey guys,
Just a quick question as now I'm a little confussed. I have been looking for a shift kit for my '06 Monte SS and thought I had my mind set on the one from ZZPeformance.com. But I came across this thread today and heard y'all (especially you Mgpeagle) talking about the one from TransGo.
So I go on there website and look into it a bit more, and they show under their shift kit section the one for the 4T65E for the 97-04 model years. I'm wondering if that is the one that will work for my car so I call TransGo and get ahold of one of their tech's named Glen. I tell him I'm looking at the one shift kit on their site for the 4T65E and say I'm just wondering if it will work for my Monte as it only shows up to the '04 model years. He says to me, "Well, we don't offer a shift kit for the 4T65E tranny. What you are seeing on the site is just a repair kit, it is not a prformance upgrade kit." I told him I'm a member of this site and that a member (you Mgpeagle) posted up on a thread about shift kits that he has one from TransGo and really likes it and has made quite a difference in how his tranny performs. He said, "Well, I don't know. Maybe that person has made some other mods to his tranny, but our kit is a repair kit only and would set it up back to stock just like in your Grandma's Impala."
So like I said earlier, now I'm a bit confussed. Mgpeagle, since you have this kit, is this guy feeding me a bunch of misinfo, or is there something else I'm missing????? I want to make sure I get the best kit avail when I do this and y'all were really talking up this kit from TransGo, but if it's a repair only kit and won't change much of anything from stock, that's not what I'm looking for... Just wondering..

The shifts are much firmer, i love it. Its my DD, i personally wouldn't want to drive a car that doesn't feel this way. idk about the tranny, i goes as far to say even less miles. Since the shifts are actually firmer.

I just bought the Intense Racing shift kit. It should be here monday.
Next week I am ordering a case of Amsoil trans fluid.
When I am gonna do it I am gonna do a full trans flush first, then install
the shift kit with Amsoil.
After I do it I will post the difference in porformance. With pics.

This will not void any warranty. All the parts look stock anyway. Can't really tell the difference by looking at the parts.
Oh, and if the AmsOil is fully synthetic, expect the trans to slip. The 4T65E does not like fully synthetic fluid. Just ask Dave at TEP.

I use a combination of Dex 6 and something else. It's a 1/2 and 1/2 ratio.
But for ordianry changes regular Dex 6 is fine. I use the stuff made by Coastal. It's cheap but works best in my opinion. I get it at AutoZone. Castrol makes a Dex 6 synblend that is Ok too. Just stay away from full synthetic. A lot of people on the V-6 boards trans.' slip even with Mobil 1 full synthetic trans fluid. Hope this helps.

Awesome man thanks a bunch, so I think its best to stay away from anything synthetic with these trannys but whats a good shift kit that my wife will enjoy for every day driving as well as having the extra performance with out costing to much, and also preventing any unwanted extra wear on the clutch paks/belt
