Not for the shift kit to work. A tune will change the shift points (speed based), while a shift kit changes the speed of the shifts.

My total with shipping was $180 for the following:

-Transgo SK4T65E Shift Kit
-Hayden TranSaver Transmission Cooler
-4T65E Filter
-Accumulator Body Gasket/plate
-4T65E Lower Pan Gasket

Many say that the pan gasket and accumulator body gasket can be reused, which is true, but I wanted new ones on hand just encase. I hate running to the parts store in the middle of a project. I am replacing the filter and installing a drain plug while I have everything apart. If you were strictly doing just the shift kit, you could probably get away with buying the kit and 8 quarts of dex VI.

I also spent $11 (with shipping) at Summit Racing for a B&M drain plug kit.

The biggest cooler you can find. For me that was the 11" x 11" Imperial Maxi-Cool. The link is in my trans temp thread.

I cannot tell you how big the cooler is since I had it delivered to my house in the US. I put trust in TEP's reputation on the board here. The cooler is rated 26,000 GVW.

It is hard for me to comment on installation difficulty since I cannot look at my car. However, my internet research indicates that removal of the air dam and/or front fascia extension is necessary to install the cooler. The cooler itself is tied onto the radiator, it seems with spacers between it and the radiator.

I plan on doing a "how to" for a bunch of things while I am underneath the GXP. Shift kit, tranny cooler, HID fog lights, and switchback LEDs in the DRL/Turn Signals...

Yeah, I was a spoiled *** little **** back then. My parents had their own software company and business was good. Of course, as I got older and realized there was nothing but strings attached to the nice things my parents (mostly my mom) got me, life wasn't so good. "Go to this school." "Don't date that girl." "You're going to college to be a Plastic Surgeon..." Nonetheless, I finally wised up several years later and joined the Army and never needed my parents for anything again.

Anyway, back to shift kits. Why no love for the Intense kit in this thread?

I have the trans go shift kit installed with an aggressive tune and I'm still not impressed sometimes 1-2nd is firm and other times its super soft. I talked to Dave, at TEP and he told me I need to a another 2nd clutch and steel in the 2nd clutch pack. GM, sets everything up way to lose. Also we all.... have a 2.93 effective gear ratio at the wheels. We do have 3.29's but the trans uses sprockets that under drives each gear .892 to reduce torque output to the wheels and power. http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com...Tech_Info.html. Best upgrades would be 35/35 gears with 7/8" chain, 300M input shaft, TransGo shift kit, HD clutches with a extra steel and clutch (I believe most kits come with the extra clutch and steel) We already have a pretty good converter ("form what I have been told") just run a trans cooler and keep your fluid clean by doing regular preventive maintenance. Don't wait tell 100K like the factory recommends. Dave recommends leaving some of the torque management in the tune which will help with performance . Also a GM differential would make our drive train about bullet proof. Everything should cost about 2 grand minus labor. One thing to keep in mind is that our Input shaft and drive chain are only good for about 300 FWHP which should be pretty easy to do with rockers, headers, exhaust, CAI, and catback exhaust. Once we adapt a nonrestrictive intake manifold we should be able to make 320@the wheels before a cam change. So change the cam last!
