Default Rwd gxp?

now i know this can be done, i saw a vid of a mcss that was converted and i wanna know what he used and how much it cost, i figure when my trans finaly dies its time to go rwd, the only reason i didnt buy the g8 is because i thought fwd would be better in the winter, boy was i wrong! if the back end slides at all in a fwd your screwed cuz its just gonna keep going round. in a rwd you just have so much more control. but even the imp ss cop cars out here are fwd and im starting to wonder how that guy with the monte did it? if anyone has any clues on how it was done and what was used it would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Not to be a downer, but you'd probably come out cheaper and have a better performing vehicle if you just bought a GTO/camaro/corvette/G8.

If you're really serious about doing it, though, don't let me quench your enthusiasm. Go for it, break some ground. I think it'd be bad ***...maybe you can find an easy way to do it and make a kit (like the focus guys).

It can be done. But you better have either:

A. Pile of money
B. Fab Skillz

Would almost be easier to put the body on a f-body chassis.

That'd be really difficult. Unibody cars are way different than the body on frame cars...

From what I was reading..late model vettes are the option of choice. They have the rear mounted trans..means less working of the car..only thing you really need to do is rip apart the trunk. ANd maybe doing a little of the front frame to make it fit..it can be done and in doing so not to many out there like it

theres a guy who did it with a 5the gen monte on a g-body frame. i brought it up to the guy who did the 6thgen rwd conversion and he made a good point why put a newer body on a sloppy out of date suspension. i asked about doing mine what it would run and he said about 8k with me providing the drivetrain. not terrible if you can find a drivetrain for *** cheap and sell all your ls4 crap, but not good either. still pretty cool either way. heres the vid of the 5th gen.

i wanted a gto but at the last second i changed my mind. the monte was to be my daily driver for my other monte. and if i got a gto or a camaro there would be no turning back and then i would wind up needing yet another daily driver. and besides i think the monte looks nicer.

true but i was lookin for something that would be decent in the snow and not wind up being another rickety street race car that every girl that i date objects to and every neighbor around me hates when im parking or warming up morning or night. in a year or 2 i am going to pick up a new ss camaro, or maybe with some luck the montes will come back out with rwd and a v8.
