Wes that's a very good writeup. Thanks for taking the time to do it, it will help others when they install the STB bars & brackets.

For some strange goofy reason I've been unable to log into here for weeks!

Seems the site didn't care for the computer I was using or something.

Last month we gave the STB Bars from Don a long road test.

Chicago to southern Arizona, up to Vegas, over and up into Colorado, and back to Chicago via Nebraska and Iowa.

The mountain passes out west were tamed because of the STB bars.

Can't say enough good about them.

Our SS never dipped or swayed, one way or the other.

It felt like I was driving my brother's Vette.

For the relatively inexpensive cost, it's one of the best suspension mods I've ever done.

To those who haven't done it yet, DO IT!

THANKS DON!

Paul thanks for the positive feedback, I'm glad you are happy with the STB bar setup.

I still have more bars here if anyone wants to get in on the group buy.

If you are using Don Rome's bracket's please add some duct tape so the Aluminium is not against the metal.Metal & Aluminium don't like each other.

Its not going to happen over night but in a few year's.

I didn't know Don was making these for the GXP's. Can I trade bar's with you Don? I still have all the stuff from my 07 GP.

I still love my bars, best investment, other than 93 octane gas, that I ever put into this car.

I haven't used 93 octane since I installed a Fitch Fuel Catalyst on mine.

Some may say it doesn't work, I know for a fact that it does.

I've got to report that I finally got the time to install the bars, and the rear brackets could not be installed. Both sides have an interference issue - both sides different issues. The brackets will need to be ground to make them fit.

Absolutely. As a mechanical engineer, I do know what I'm doing.

Maybe they fit a Monte better, but not my Impala. The car is different on each side. Nothing a bench grinder can't fix.

Fixed the driver side bolt interference, but now I have the same body weld issue as on the right side (which almost fit this morning but didn't take enough off). Will regrind at work next week.

+1,000,000!

ETA: Don has been unemployed for quite some time, and does this work out of his garage. I know firsthand because I picked up my STB's from him in person.

I was under the impression that the '06 Imp is identical to the '08 (mine) and mine fit perfectly.

After bench grinding at work, and filing at home, Saturday I got the brackets to fit past the body welds near the rear shock. The bar then installed with ease.

Took it for a drive through the mountains today. Definite improvement in handling. Rear is more "planted".

AZsilverSS you should have trimmed the soft body putty "welds" with a razor knife, not modified the brackets. The location of the body putty varies from car to car, so some people have had to trim it. I wasn't banned for selling parts here, it was for retaliating at some members for putting my car down.

Oh well, that explains the issue. Duh! The "putty" was painted and hard. Just hard to "flatten" the curve so it cleared on both rear brackets. However, I did have a clearance issue on only the driver side. The distance between the rear most bolt and the metal "lip" around the shock mount was too narrow. Had to take about a 1/8" off - ground it back to match the washer mark on the bracket from the first try installing. Passenger side fit fine, so I just caulk it up to manufacturing "variance". I should know, I used to work for an OEM.
