Default Cylinders 1 & 8 Misfiring

Since I have the Diablo now I was watching my cylinders because my car has always idled funny. Sometimes rough, sometimes not.

Well I found it to be that cylinders one and two are misfiring randomly. Cyl#1 is missing more than 8. It's random as well.

No codes.

Any thoughts? The reason I brough it here is because it is two cylinders rather than one so maybe you guys might have some insight as to if they are somehow related?

Any help is appreciated.

How old are the plug wires? Usually that is the problem.

wires/plugs. #1 is the closest to the battery. (Front of the car, left-most.) #8 would be the furthest right in the back by the firewall.

Swap around the coil and wire with another cylinder.

But you should probably change plugs and wires if they are the stockers.

Plugs are 1st thing I'd do. If that doesn't fix it, wires.

After my header install a few years back we accidentally cracked the porcelain (sp?) on one plug...one ******* plug. It took me two weeks and about 3 visits to autozone using their scan tool to figure out the problem. Kept saying I had misfires and o2 codes etc etc...One ******* plug man. Just do it, it's cheap anyways.

Thanks guys. i put in new plugs last season and it was doing this before i changed them but i didnt change the wires which are 110k originals.

Also, it only does it at idle, once i give it any throttle parked or otherwise it stops and records no new misfires.

i think i will just get a set of new wires or swap some wires to confirm.

thanks again.

if it goes away when you give some gas it would more than likely be the wires.

NEW PLUG WIRES SOLVED IT.

Wow, I cheaped out on my tune up when I bought it knowing the plug wires had 100k on them but I did everything BUT the wires figuring they were short enough to be fine. WRONG.

Thanks for the kick in the pants to do it. I have an idle phobia from things like this and its fixed now haha.

The replacements are longer than the originals and they touch that silver tube line that gets hot (on the front side)....does that get hot enough to hurt the wires?

WOW. You'd be the first I've heard of hitting 100k before in a GXP or SS. Congrats!

I actually have 110k now.

Idles at 44psi oil pressure and runs like a TOP now.

It's all highway miles and as always, if you saw my car in person you would never think it had that many.

Also....I finally realized my cars color name, laser blue.

Is there anywhere I can find build numbers? I have also never seen another SS with wood trim? Hmm

No as far as the first owner said he had a new BUILT transmission put in it and I have the paperwork for it.

I abuse it regularly.
