Default Paint & Body Question...

Okay, so this doesn't have anything to with my Impala, but I need some advice on stopping a little bit of rust on the hood of my Grand National from becoming a lot of rust.

Basically, the "3.8 SFI Turbo" emblems on the hood had begun to separate, so I had to take them off. Well, in the couple of years since I did that, there's some rust showing up where the emblems used to be. What can I do to stop this until the car can be painted sometime in the next couple of years? The paint is badly checked on the hood anyway, but it is straight with no dents.

Any ideas?

well to stop rust completely we either sand blast/grind/ sometimes strip down to bare metal, sometimes not always
but i see you just want a quick fix for the time being so what i would do is go get some por-15 and some black touch up paint, you dont even have to sand the rust if its small enough just clean the area with dx 330 its a ppg wax and grease removing product

apply a small amount of por-15, let it dry apply the black touch up paint and rust is stopped in its tracks until you can get the hood repainted,

now hoods roofs and deck lids are the hardest panles to keep from warping, thats why i use a wheel from 3m that cleans metal, and doesnt create allot of heat that warps metal, just surface rust body work prep and paint time sand and buff i would do the hood for 750

Thanks, bdyman. Where's a good place to get por-15 and dx 330? Is this auto parts store stuff, or "professional" chemicals?

eastwood has great products, but i like the por-15 personal choice i guess
yes the dx 330 is a ppg product, and has to be bought at a body shop supply store, the por-15 can be bought there too and or online
