Oil filter of choice??
#24
Yea I always thought the way to go was FRAM? I haven't changed the oil on the GXP yet (just got it), but I was thinking Mobil 1 and a FRAM filter. Any reason none of you use it?

I use the Purolator blue filters with Mobil 1 synthetic oil on both of my cars.
I have not seen the inside of car oil filters only motorcycles.
The Fram filters have a paper filter material with cardboard endpieces that are glued. Whereas the Purolators have a metal frame with synthetic filter media and a silicone backflow preventer. With an air-cooled motorcycle the temperatures get too hot and the FRAM glue and paper deteriorate.
I did have a bad experience with a FRAM oil filter on my old Mitsubishi Eclipse where it stopped flowing oil, throwing the light. Luckily I was only a few miles from home. When I pulled the filter it was full but when I tipped it over nothing came out.
