what all should i buy from hp tuners, and how much? i will need to turn off the dod before start up since im using ls7 lifters and a non dod tray. lack of tuning is what got me into this mess in the first place so now im scared. also i will be using ls6 injectors rated at 28@58psi. stockers are pretty close but i think the ls6 ones flow just a bit more. i will probly need a wide band. paying somebody might be cheaper and easier, but i plan on doing my trans in oct. so i dont wanna keep paying people over and over again. Also, is it absolutely necessary to swap oil pumps? seems to me like it would be a good idea. im just a little concerned about the pressure reg in the pan and bearing clearances. im not sure if gm set our motors up differently due to the better oil pump. one more thing.. should i swap out my chain for a ls2 chain or go aftermarket?

HPT comes in two ways. You need the VCM Suite. It will come with the software and cable. You'll need to supply the laptop. Once the software is installed and is operable there will be a drop down to either turn DOD On/Off. Pick Off then it will disable DOD. It is really easy for that part of it.
We already have a high volume oil pump from the factory. I think it flows 30% better than the LS2 GTO's. I think I found this in the sticky on our front thread page. Can't wait for the results.

Make sure and spring for the Pro version so you have analog inputs for your wideband.
All of the DOD motors have higher volume oil pumps to feed the lifters. If you delete DOD, you'll have more than enough oil pressure. All of the Gen IV blocks have the same oiling provisions.
Changing injector tables isn't hard, just look in the HP Tuners Tune Repository and you'll find stock LS6 tunes. Then it's just copy and paste, with a some interpolation needed if the axis are different. The HP Tuners forums are really helpful. In all seriousness, I'd recommend going to the library and checking out Greg Banish's book if they have it. It's very LS centric, and once you read it you'll feel much better about what you are getting into.

thanks guys. im going to be heading in a different direction with my intake setup depending on whether or not i sell my ls1 stuff. my new plan of action is to buy the tpis ls6 90mm intake and use ls2 injectors, tb, and maf with 4" ducting. im going to get a aftermarket rail and make new mounting brackets. for the crossover pipe im going to try to get a small section of oval pipe to use in the tb area for clarence. once i get my computer up and running i'll post some more pics and do some web searching in the hp tuners site
so.. cam,p&p heads, 90mm ls6 intake with ls2 tb, maf and injectors with 4" piping

90mm LS6 intake with an LS2 throttle body...
thrown for a loop.
EDIT: Unless you pay a company like TPIS to cut the neck and mod it. But at that point, youre already into what it costs for the equivalent FAST intake.

i dont think that the f.a.s.t intake will work. its very bulky in rear. the ls1 manifold barley fits. also tpis did a dyno shoot out and the moddified ls6 intake came out on top with no loss of bottom end tq. you guys can search there site for the artical. i need to get my heads back on and check for clearance to with my ls1 intake and adapter to make sure i can go with the 90mm before spending that kind of money. i do believe that oval pipe will work if i chop the front header collector down. it comes up pretty high.

850 for the TPIS manifold. If you supply them a LS6 intake then knock off 500
So we are now looking at 350.00
This intake would allow us to use a LS2 tb. This would eliminate us having to use a tb adapter. I still don't think a FAST intake would work. It's so bulky!

Car is back on the road and running stronger then ever. Mods are in sig. I'm still ripping off 0-60's in the 5.0's so I'm happy (Un tuned). I sold my Gold race roller rockers, headers, and CAI and I'm still right where I was before. Car pulls much harder now. I have about 4k coming too me in about 3 weeks so I'm either going Stg 1 turbo or re attempting my intake swap. This time with a LS6 intake. I wanna go turbo so bad but I like being N/A. Scatter brained big time!
Yhinking I'll do the LS6 intake swap with a built trans and tuning. Who knows I'm all ADHD out!

Please, oh please, could you test fit those 275s on the 8" wheels in the rear?
I bought two extra 8" Alcoas almost two months ago and I'm still deciding on either 255 or 275. If the 275s fit, I'll be putting them out back and eating up the remainder of my 255s in the front which will be replaced by a new set of 275s to match.

255 fits fine in the rear. 275 is nothing but ~0.79 inches wider (0.395 inches in and out).
I'm just trying to avoid ordering tires and getting them mounted only to find out they're too wide. It's just easier since you already have them.

no one has posted dyno results from a cam yet except me....and that as an ls6 cam and it gained me nothing. i will be HOPEFULLY getting my car back tomorrow and i will have it on the dyno in about two weeks so we will see for sure.
also the IRON BLOCK 5.3 truck engine is completely different. ya all push rod engines more or less work the same and will respond to mods similarly but that's like saying a 6.1 hemi is the same as an ls3

Look on page 13 for cam specs, and page 15 for the video.

I just told my machine guy to mill them for 10.25cr He CC's my chambers and they were a tad over 64cc. I'm at 60cc now. I don't know how much he took off. He said I should be around 10.25-10.4.
I wanna buy some TFS heads now.... But they are 1K a piece.
