Default EEC and emissions?

I live in the PA where emissions are pretty strict. I got my DMH EEC and I want to put it in place of the res. A couple people I have talked to said the resonator holds some emissions properties. I just need to know if taking it out is gonna flip the CEL on. If so its gonna fail inspection.

The resonator is only for noise control.

That's odd because Haulin is right, It's only used for noise control. Some cat backs don't even come with the res.
