In your exhaust line there is a u-bend which restricts flow, replacing it with a straight pipe improves flow.

The u-bend for mine is actually a dent.

Others are just a pipe bent down then back up.

Oh ok! Thanks. I'm going to be replacing that section with a test pipe when I do my headers.

But thanks again for the information.

Yes - Stealth's pic is the downpipe / cat assy, I haven't seen one like JP's.

If you have one like Stealth's its not that bad - the squashed ones are some f'd up work.

Mine was the "dent" like JP's. (07 Monte SS) I have the Hogan down pipe now though, big difference.

I wonder what the engineers at GM were thinking when they did that? Probably just another means (like the intake) of detuning the LS4 for the 4T65..

All W-Bodies with the LS4 and 3800 II/III have a U-Bend.

I am not sure if the 3100 and 3400/3500 W-Bodies had the U-Bends...

The u-bend is for clearance for the o2 sensor. Our crappy intake is to make clearance for the OPSU.

Mine is like Stealth's. All I can say is that I can't wait for my catless DP to come in!! The u-bend on my 02 MCSS was really bad. I bought a catted DP for it and it made a huge difference.

Looks like an engineering change was done mid-run if that holds up.

Just as bad as that smashed Y-pipe on my '02 Camaro SS.
