Am I the only one that noticed???? Hawkins04's MAF is installed backwards!!! The arrow on the side of the MAF indicates which way airflow is supposed to go. The flanged end of the MAF orginally attached to stock airbox and should face forward (or face the fender now). Is putting it on backward supposed to be some performance inhancement technique? I don't think so!

Ok so I started putting my CAI together today. Total cost about $160. Could be done cheaper like Hawkins, but I wanted to use metal piping. So heres a list with part numbers and prices.
Item QTY. Part# Cost
6” straight tube 4” 1 9719 $21.99
45 degree tube 4” 1 9749 $21.99
60 degree tube welded 4” 1 9768 $24.99
4” to 3 ½” reducer 3 9741 $15.99
4” coupler 1 9771 $9.99
Air Filter 1 ? $24.99
I ended out running all over town getting all this **** because no one had all of it. Some of it came from Jegs and Pepboys. Autozone also carries it but they have to order it in.I also painted the tubing to match my valve covers and coils. Here are some pictures.

As soon as I get the last reducer tomorrow I'll do the install and take some pictures and post them.

I just got done making the plate to go over the opening in the fender. I think i'm going to weld a straight through it and use a silicone 90 on the inside of the fender for the filter.
I'm still not completely sure on the diameter i'm going to use yet, 3.5 or 4 inch, the filter will be down in the fender.

Haulin, that's VERY similar to what I'm doing. I'm glad you're a few steps ahead of me so I don't have to experiment with angles.
Please be sure to post pics when you're done with it. It looks great so far!

Off topic but I also got my new hid ballast in. Right now I have hid's in the low and high beams. So I hooked them up and de-badged the car also

The 4" tubing wouldn't fit so at some point I'm gonna use this after the MAF and the run the flexible ducting down into the bumper and then connect that to a 6.5" X 4" box just under the turn signal lamp so I'll have ram air.

Just in case I am not the only one that didn't think about it...get a water cover for your filter....I was driving through some heavy rain and with the hole in the bumber at the bottom of my GXP...I sucked in some water....just enough to make it sputter at full throttle but water+engine=bad times....

We Monte owners just don't have the fender room to do a fwi. This pic shows how I did my cai on my 07 SS. Actually I did almost the identical thing on the 2005 GP GTP I had before the Monte
