Default Build Your own FWI CAI Thread...

Essentially I started this for the people who want a fwi cold air intake but have found that making your own is the way to go.
We can use this thread to discuss ideas, what works and what doesn't...

I was thinking about using dryer ducting as a template to measure angles, then ordering the parts through jegs or wherever...

For size I was thinking 4 inch like the JMB but not sure until I take some good measurements.

Anyone already have one they would like to share?

I guess one of the fun things about these cars is that some things you have to do yourself.

The SS guys don't really have much room in the fender. You can get part of the filter in there and make a heat shield.

This is what I'll be buying for tubing.

used it on my gtp with great results.

I'm just gonna get a couple silicone pieces if need to connect things.

www.siliconeintakes.com will be your friend...should cost between 100-140 if you use parts from their site and a good cone filter 7-9inches.

it is a 45 degree off the throttle body into maf then a 3'' striaght piece to a 6'' striaght piece to another 3'' striaght piece (had to be that way cause of the coolant bottle) to a 60 degree then right into the k&n filter. the filter is getting the air that goes through the hole right under the turn signal so it gets clean/ cold air

as for my ecm/tcm nothing is holding it down right now but it does not move really at all

if anyone needs more help or more pics let me know i can take the wheel well out so you can see the filter placement and things

I used this stuff to make an intake for my cousin and my buddy. I also used an open cone S&B filter. Under a hundred bucks and looks clean.

Check out intense racing. I think they have one made of this that works great.
I'm just not a fan of the looks.
