I like them alot.
I didn't know what kind of ride to expect when I first bought the car. This car does not handle like a Buick....it handles like a Pontiac, and that's a good thing. I'm certain the Bilsteins are a big factor in that equation.
I get good stability in the corners and not a lot of jounce on the rough patches. It has an overall "sporty" feel that won't beat the crap out of you.

Those aren't our struts, lol. They will actually be stiffer than ours.
Bilstein doesn't sell our struts but they do recommend the Heavy Duty strut when lowering.
According to Bilstein, our struts sit in between the "Comfort" (previously "HD Comfort") and "Heavy Duty" (previously "Sport Heavy Duty").
If you would have waited and asked around, you could have had the GXP fronts for $283.28 (P/N: 15245596 - gmpartsdirect.com) and rears for $210.36 (P/N: 25853345) each.
monsterpartsonline.com is down but would be cheaper.
You can thank Pontiac for that.
There is one thing though that I wish Buick went through with on the LaCrosse. And that would be MagneRide/MRC (Magnetic Ride Control). It's listed in the Super's press release but I guess it never made it to production.
I would have retrofitted those bitches in a heartbeat.

.....or John Heinricy for raiding the GM parts bin.
Yea, that would have been sweet. I'll just settle for my Stabilitrack and Magnasteer for now. The Lucerne Super got the MRC.

Yes and no.
These struts didn't just exist. They were created for the GXP at Pontiac's request. Had that request not been made, I highly doubt that these struts (in their current form) would have showed up in the limited run LaCrosse Super.
I think it all came down to Buick's budget - like you mentioned, being able to dig into the parts bin - in all honesty.
Well that's good news. You got a "higher performing" strut at a cheaper price. Good deal!
