Default Impala SS tires 235/50/18

My wife's '07 Impala SS has 60k on it and its due for tires. It currently has 235/55/18 Goodyears on it but I plan on going back to the stock 235/50/18's.

It is her DD and gets about 20-25k a year put on it. It gets driven in the rain and snow, its bone stock, and does not get driven aggresively.

What are my options? I've been looking on tirerack and ebay but not really sure what to go with. I'd like to stay in the $600 range and found some Falken ZE-912s and also a few from Kumho.

I'd like something that will last for at least 40k miles, do decent in wet weather, and not cost a ton. Any luck? Thanks in advance!

I had the 912 before. Didn't care for them at all. But I have a spirited driving attitude. For daily I am sure they would be fine. As for mileage couldnt tell you I sold the car before i had 20k on them.

Why didn't you like them? I'm assuming poor dry traction? How'd they do in the rain/snow?

I paid around 900 (I know thats more than you wanted to spend) for some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus but I enjoy the smooth ride they give. i ride 70 in hard rain, no hydroplaning yet. Much better than the goodyears that were on it.

I trial fit some 235/55's and they rubbed in the rear. Had to go with 235/50s.

Had the 912's on my Saturn VUE. They made it about 30k miles and got real noisy the last 10k miles.

I have those now. Got about 3k miles on them, and they're AWESOME in the wet. Hard to tell the difference between wet and dry on these.

Anyone else?

What about these Kumhos?

They claim 60k miles and excellent wet traction. Anyone??

I have no personal experience with them, but I think I will be going with the Pirelli P-zero Nero. From the reviews I have read, it is a nice tire and it is very reasonably priced.

Luse4 did you end up getting the pirelli pzero nero's? I only have one on my front passenger tire but i wan to replace the rest because I have no grip in the rain. Does any one else have experience with these pirelli's are they good in the rain and other weather conditions?

be careful trying to find bargain pricing on tires. A lot of ebay tires have ols DOT numbers - so be sure to get them prior to buying.

RK hit the nail on the head for what you're looking for. The contis fit the bill.

I have not gotten any new tires. I am hoping to get another year out of the factory goodyear rsa' s. I was just planning ahead. However, if I come across a great deal on them, all bets are off!

I am currently running Kuhmo LX platinums on mine and love them. 60000 miles warranty and the feel great!!!! They have awesome wet traction and great handling.

I know my signature says 2005 Monte Carlo, but I have the 18 inch Impala rims on it
