Another Tranny up in smoke :( I'm starting to get the tell tail signs of either transmission failure or torque converter failure... maybe both. It's starting to surge on the highway between 45-65 mph. The car is way out of warranty with 101k on it. Anyone know how much it would cost to replace either component or both?? Trying to weigh my options as we really like this car......

the rpm's jump up and down 300-400 rpm's when just cruising along. The car seems to shift fine, so mine maybe just the converter? I guess I'll find out Tuesday when I bring it to the dealer..

i thought that was my problem, but it was just the TCC unlocking when Id jump into DOD mode.....make sure thats not what it is first

I saw that recently going about 75mph it kept trying to go into DOD but too much load so it never really did. I increased speed a bit and it stopped. Every time DOD engages or disengages the TC unlocks witch will jump your RPM's by like 300-400ish

Yup does it with cc on...... Dealer says the torque converter is junk. Problem goes away when the tech manually locks it up with the tech2. They will know better on what else is wrong when they drop the pan.

Well, had the torque converter replaced......Trans lasted about 30 miles then decided to **** the bed...... now it's back at the dealer for a trans tear down.... yippie ya hooooooo

ya whoever told u it was just the TC that was bad is a moron, when the TC goes bad its because of the clutch inside burns up and sends metal shavings throughout the trans that destroy the rest of the clutches and valves
When they rebuild or replace, dont let them tell you you can reuse the TC that they just put in, you need another new one, demand it if they say otherwise

3500 is way ****** high especially if they just want to rebuild it to stock, i was quoted 14-1800 and they are doing the same stuff that dave dose at triple edge i will let you know my total cost by Friday the im out to destroy some tires
