I just have my tranny rebuilt by him about 4,000 miles ago and it was a huge difference. I had the gears changed to 3.29 and a hardened input shaft. I have been loving it.

I hadn't asked Dave about service interval. Is he saying that we should change it out at about 20,000?

I have about 17,000 since my TEP-fortified rebuild. I was thinking about doing a fluid change when it gets to 20,000. So far, my fluid (with the help of a huge cooler) is still pink and clean, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Just got an email from Dave. He recommends a service interval of 24-30k. Filter change preferred over the flush. I am coming up on 40... I am not sure if I want to ride it out or change it... Decisions Decisions!

Sorry I had to make a correction to my post it is 24-30K mile range and a pan drop to service the fluid and filter is the safest way. Per Dave. I would change it now and you should be fine.

Dave at TEP recommends dropping the pan and changing the filter. No flush! When you drop the pan only the fluid that comes out natrually should come out which is about 50% this way it does not shock the system of the tranny. When you refill it, it will have 50% old fluid and 50% new. He informed me that if you go past fluid change intervals in the 24-30K mile range and a pan drop to service the fluid and filter is the safest way and he does not recommend changing it at all. Idk, I'm still on my 2nd stock transfer. I'll be getting whatever the best package is, I forget.

The stocker you swapped in, was there anything done to it at all?

I'm just curious cause the difference between their rebuild and street/strip is only about $200 and wonder if just beefing up the internals on my own wouldn't be just as beneficial as opposed to spending $1700+
