You can gut the cat. Just take it off and hammer a pipe in it till you knock it all out.
He is right. You 'can' do that to the cat, but I wouldn't. I just got rid of my old cat after it had been sitting in the garage for a year. I looked on CL and there was a dude who was buying old cats. He gave me $100 for my old one. I know that it's about 1/4 the cost of a new one, but hey it's $100 that I didn't have before. Good luck!

P.S. I hope you have that code deleted prior to removing it.

Thanks for the link. It would be easier to just knock everthing out of the cat but I may throw it on craigslist to recoupe a few bucks.

Edit: didn't notice post #21, I guess great minds think alike.
Yeah I can turn off catylitic over temp with the Diablo.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. The car was gonna be my DD while I built my truck back. I really wanted to leave this one alone but as you can see thats not gonna happen.

I love the sound of the magnaflow catback but I'm also cheap so hopefully I can get the sound close with just mufflers. May even go with larger mufflers than the catback, years of dual exhaust and flowmasters have me wanting something mellow.

I'll look into those o2 sims when the time comes, I only knew of the electronic ones until now and those extensions look to be a better option.

You guys think the emblem overlays would look good with my new decals? I got them from Borat, "Very Nice".

Any hood clearance issues? Aside from the rear of the intake, what other fitment issues are seeing?

If you can get this to work, it would be a great low-cost alternative to an LS1 swap, as the truck intake flows slightly better than an LS1, though not quite as well as an LS6 intake. The best thing is, truck intakes are plentiful and can be had for as close to free as it gets!

Yeah I just had this one lying around from when I swapped the one on my truck to the newer truck intake. Hood clearance should be fine once the top of the intake is smoothed down and I get some aftermarket fuel rails. Cleared the OPSU fine. Here's some more pics of it.
