GXP OEM NaV install - where to find VSS wire ?

GXP OEM NaV install - where to find VSS wire ? Well, my parts will arrrive this week to do the instal in my wife's '08 GXP. I think all that is missing for the install is where do I pick up the VSS wire ? Do I need to run a wire under the hood and pick it up there ? Or, can I find it under the dash (preferrred) ?
Lastly, I think I've heard I don't need the VSS harness ($60) but can instead use a fast-on connnector to the back of the NAV unit ? Which pin would the VSS connect to ?
I was hoping to find a thread with pictures but a search shows nothing. Thanks for the help.

Again, these are for an Impala, so I don't know if it's same for a GXP.

I went to crutchfield.com and searched their knowledge base and found a 2008 Grand Prix wire color chart. The radio arrived today too but in looking at it, it is clear I'll need the VSS harness and connector as the pins are WAY small to be slipping a terminal onto one of them. Any idea where to buy the VSS harness ? ALSO, HAS ANYONE INSTALLED A FACTORY NAV in a GXP ? I'd love to get a few pointers before attempting the install. Thanks !

LS1Racing can you please repost the picture. I need to know where the VSS wire is on my 06 Monte Carlo SS to install factory NAV. 10 Pin harness brown wire. is it on the far left on the top? There are two on the far left. The one on the very far left terminates at the plug heading into the car. Is that the VSS? thanks!
