Default Trouble Light help

Hey all,
Well I messsed up a while back and got 2 used tires up front. Where I messed up is that they were 2 sizes too big. Well that caused my traction control and abs lights to trip.
I've fixed the tires but i can't get rid of the lights. I let the car sit overnight with the cables off hoping to reset the computer but that didn't work at all.
Do i have to go to a dealer to get the codes cleared?

Thanks for the help,
Chris

How did larger tires cause your abs and traction light? Did you only have the larger tire on one side?

Those are probably BCM codes, and I think they should clear on their own with some driving.

How far have you driven it since the lights came on?

With them on, quite a long time.
With the tires replaced and everything fixed, maybe 50 miles.

I have to get a new keyfob reprogrammed. If I have them clear the codes when that is done will they come back?

Possibly not because of your tires. The hub bearings are bad about going out, they affect the sensor when they get sloppy. I'd check that first. Raise the car and shake the wheel top in and out, if it moves much at all, they need replacing. (The sensor is built on the hub)

Everything is tight. Checked that when we put the tires on it yesterday.

First i would start with reading the codes. Thus telling you what is causing the lights to come on. If the light is on there WILL be codes/code stored. Autozoo or a place like that could prob. read them for you. The dealer will charge you an arm and leg to check this out.

I agree that he needs to find out what codes are stored, but a regular OBD2 code scanner like what you can buy or borrow at VatoZone isn't going to help. These are not PCM codes, they are BCM codes, and for a GM vehicle, I'm fairly sure he'll need access to a Tech2 to scan them.

Make sure the speed sensor wires aren't severed, as well. I had mine get cut 2 or 3 times.

It appears to be a bad speed sensor. The wires are fine and it's a LH speed sensor code that is tripping.

what code was that BTW??

My car was all of a sudden, popping up with ABS, Service Brake Assist, and Service Traction Control,...dinging & going crazy, & it spit out all this crap:

straight from the Dealer's scanner,....:

P2544 torque reduction signal circuit
PO575 cruise control
PO703 brake switch circuit
U0073 control module com bus off
U0101 lost com with trans control
U0121 No Bus com with ABS/TC/ESP/CC
U0100 lost com with ECM/PCM
U0140 lost com with Body Control System
C0561 system disabled info stored

I just don't believe that they're that many problems with her,...it has to be something electrical,...unfortunately when I took it to "my" mechanics,..they didn't see the ABS, service brake assist, and service traction control pop up on the DIC with them!! WTF??? like the damn WB Frog....
