I'm due for some new tires and I wanted to get some of your thoughts and or experiences on a good performance tire that is good for everyday use/DD but at the same time have great traction for the occasional track usage? Or should I just get some DR's and ride around on those everyday lol

Everyone seems to tell me the nitto555s but honestly check out the s04 pole positions!! I'm pretty sure their bridgestone.. potenzas..
Search some 275 wides thatll fit a 8inch rim and poof who cares the brand. That's a meaty tire !!
I honestly want the perelli pzeros but the 18s I find for my gxp were super low profile.. like a 35.. and their almost 500 a piece.. awesome tire tho.. my buddy has them on a sick mustang.. he can barely even peel out

I had continental DWs when I had my ss, i went through a few different tires and these where surprisingly one of the best and for the price i couldn't be happier. I went through fire hawks, f1s, and BFGs.

If you're going this route, avoid the DWS and look for the DW. I'm definitely not impressed with the DWS on the car. Overall an "okay" tire but didn't excel at anything.

The S04's are my next tire. One of the rears is this (had to replace a flat), and in the spring I'll be replacing the other rear and the fronts.

I am still using the stock potenzas on the rear. They have over 67,000 miles on them and have never been rotated. (Obvious reasons).
The stock front tires were dam good and lasted for 30,000 miles. They would cut
2.0's on a sticky track. 13.9-14.0's all day (Tap shift). The stock tires are very expensive though, but are worth it IMO on a daily driver.
I am using 275/40/18 Hankook V12's which took my 0-60 down to 5.2-5.3 sec vs 5.6-5.8 sec stock (using my Dashawk to record the 0-60 mph runs). My only mods at the time were 3" into dual 2.5" exhaust, CAI, and tune, so traction sucked with those mods using the worn potenzas.
A 275 wide tire is not recommended on a 8" wheel, but has worked pretty dam good for me. I have put 37,000 miles on my Hankooks and they should have been replaced about 5,000 miles ago. They are bald! (I run them with 30psi)

I really like Toyo Proxes series tires, the new T1 sport is uber sticky. You also can't beat a Pirelli P Zero or sportcontact Continental's. I like a tire that has ride comfort in mind, as all of these do, due to their sidewall design.

Direzza DZ101 is the best I've ever ran across. Once they heat up they get very, very sticky. I liked the hankook ventus v12 k110 evo's a lot as well, seemed to last longer at the sacrifice of some traction. That being said, they performed really well in the corners.

I just bought some old rubber tires but they had 100% thread on them, so I am in the same boat as you for new tires come spring. I have been having a hard time to find any drag radials that would fit a 18x8 rim.... So I think i am going to try out hankook v12's if I can not find a good radial setup :/

The NT05R is going to be the best tire for drag racing from Nitto. The NT01 is more suited for road racing I do believe. Performance wise between the the NT05R and the MT isn't going to be huge. Or you could always go with the NT555R it's an in between tire(only DR you will get 10-15k miles from) the NT05R and the MT plan to replace about every 5K miles. The NT555R are great tires and extremely sticky, but they do require a good burn out to heat up. A few of my fbody friends have cut 1.6x 60' on said tire, but only when heated properly.

I've also heard the same about Nitto. I have Pirelli P Zero Neros on my Monte and they've been great. I'm up for a new set of tires soon and am looking closely at the Michelin Pilot Super Sport and am also considering the new Pilot Sport A/S 3 (all-season tire, summer 2013 release). Michelin has been recommended to me multiple times and their ratings look very good. Also considering, but lower on the list, the Pirelli P Zero Russo and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrical.

I had the P Zeros on my 06 SS and got nothing but wheel spin from them. I have Nitto 555R Extremes on my car now 255/45/18 all the way around and I have to say they a a great tire for grip especially when its hot. I have driven them in rain and the grip is acceptable to good. I have driven them in 3" of snow and was surprised they drove as well as they did.

Just put some Nitto Motivos on yesterday and all I can say is WOW. I put about 60 miles on the tires yesterday and I can honestly say I have never felt more confident driving a car. We got hit with the snow storm and the roads were still pretty bad yesterday and I was flying through the snow with no issues at all. Usually I have to let off the gas when changing lanes when there is snow built up between the lanes, but I was able to gun it into the next lane with no spin at all. When I got home I had to drive through about 5 inches of snow because I hadn't shoveled yet (I actually got stuck in the same snow that morning for about a half hour with the old tires on) and my tires didn't spin or slip once. I will see how they work out after I put some more wear on them, but as of right now I don't think I will ever put a different tire on my car. Oh and the Motivos also come with a 60k mile warranty which is amazing.
