I had these in a 245/45/18, and had zero traction at any speed in 1st gear after they wore to 5/32nds. But with a 275, that won't be an issue!

The 275/40/18 should fit. I have 1,500 miles on my Falkins so far & no rubbing. I even got a 0.65G Accel on a rainy ride home. Gotta love the NW weather.

I ordered a set of Federal SS 595's for my summer tires and have been very happy. The rears were a little bigger than stock because it's all they offered but they fit and there was no rubbing. Moving to these from some Kumho all season's shaved over a second per lap on a short paved track I race on. They were cheap and don't look to bad either.

Front 255/45-18
Rear 225/50-18

275's fit perfectly. No rubbing at all or scuffing going over bumps with the wheels turned. I love the way they bulge form being on an 8" rim. Plus my wheels are protected now from curb rash.
The guys down at discount tire were impressed too, and the gave my car mad props.
only paid 47.00 to get them mounted and balanced and it only took them about 10 mins. Awesome service and they didn't even hassle me about putting a wider tire on a smaller rim. I would recommend this mod to everyone.
I haven't really checked out the traction yet but I can feel the road more, and the steering response is much improved. I stepped on the pedal while cruising around in 1st and torque steer is pretty much non existent.
Thanks for the all of the info Heslekrants. This tire size should have been stock.

Looking at my wheel well gap with a 26.5" tall tire vs. a 27" tall tire makes me wanna lower my car now. Who makes spring that ar designed for the GXP's?
