Default Sad day in MN, Insurance claim?

So my 2006 Impala SS has full coverage on it and took a pounding today from golf ball size hail. 3/4 inch

If I file a claim do you think they total it and I would be able to buy it back from insurance on the cheap? Let me know if you have any experience with this, Thanks!

Default Payout

So Farmers Insurance ended up cutting me a check for $5639.59.

The good news is the title did not go salvage. But boy do I have dents!

Lets see if anyone around town wants to get rid of their F-body!

The bright side is that according to Myth Busters, dimples make the car more aerodynamic and should increase gas mileage.

Yes exactly like the same reason dimples are on golf *****.

but really... without seeing pics of the hail damage... take that $5600 and at least buy a Fiberglass hood and get that painted. You probably can PDR a lot of the dents too for somewhere between $500 and $1000 I would guess. Is the glass broken as well? I wonder if tarping the car even with that crummy blue stuff would have avoided some damage.. thought for the future as an experiment. Hope i never get the chance first.

It takes a couple months for the title brand to get applied.. In my case it took about 10,, didn't even know it had been hit, no signs of damage, PO said it got like 3 dents was parked in a car-port. My insurance company at the time wouldn't insure flood damaged or hail damaged cars... I managed to get the title cleaned up by contesting the brand and the PO had pics.. But it was a pain in the rear.. Prob a year of dinking with the DMV..

Check on Lexus-Nexus to see if you show a claim for hail damaged auto... If its there,, there is a chance it will show up on the title.
