Default Went to the track last night

Well with 4500 miles on it i finally made it to the track.

Went to great Lakes Dragaway last night and got about 9 runs in.

First thing... this car needs a drag radial or slicks... i HATE FWD so much at this point.

first run of the night... 14.5 @ 98 with a 2.5 60 foot.

Did one MASSIVE e- brake burn out, so much i had smoke coming inside the car through the vents LOL

Stalled it up to about 2200, and rolled into as fast as it would take it.

That resulted in: best of night

R/T- .416
60' - 2.162
330 - 5.936
1/8 - 9.075 @ 78.96
1000 - 11.753
1/4 14.002 @ 100.33

rest of the night with 2.2 60 foots it would run 14.1's @ 99 all night long. upper 70's for temps.

Im very happy with these times considering the 60 foots!!.

I did get to run a new Charger SRT8 last night, badd *** looking car! had loud exhaust on it... I slept at the line, and spun of course... but stuck on its bumper all the way down the track and it ever so slowly pulled up top with the SRT finishing 14.088 @ 104 2.1 60 to my 14.1@ 99.7 2.2 60

IMHO that thing should have waxed my car bad. I only have a 5.3 where that has a 6.1 and it has 130 more HP over me, and only weighs about 500 lbs more than my car, they are roughly the same size parked next to eachother.... Blah for 40K Deff not running high 12's at 110 like you hear about. And it was modded!

My buddy shreded an axle on his new Cobalt SS too LOL, it had the LSD and is stock, dealer isntalled staged 2 package with 2000 miles... messed up both ends of the driver side half shaft on the launch. He is a tech at a chevy dealer, so he will be warrantying it, but funny none the less... it shouldnt have broke.

Was the car shifting into 3rd during the run? I read the GXP guys get some time off if they can hold 2nd through the lights with the tap shift feature. Of course I am sure a little shift program adjustment would do the same for the chevys

Well it would shift right before, right about 98 mph at 6100 RPM's, i have the rev limiter set at 6300.

I actually adjusted it to 5700 shift point into 3rd, and the mph consistently stayed high 99's then instead of low 99's-98.

So it gained .7 mph from shifting sooner. it actually feels likea stronger pull too shifting slightly sooner.

Sounds about right with the HP peak supposedly being 5600. BTW, I raced my bikes back in the day a few times at Great Lakes when I rode them

burn out on street tires = bad

drop the front pressure to 24-26 psi

stall it to 2400
jump of the brake and ease into the gas a a moderate rate to keep wheel spin at a minimum.

you can average 1.9-2.0 in these cars if the track prep is decent

Yeah... this track is not known to be the best for prep...

Going against the grain here for argument sake. I did have a 14.99 @ 98 run... that was the no burn out run, but a dry hop. 2.5 60 foot, i thought i was going to drive ove the tree when it lit the tires up and drifted to the right.... Smoke rolling past the front windows. It spun so bad it grabbed 2nd gear, and then once it got out there, it down shifted back into 1st and was on its way again. LOL

30 lbs in the front, 40 in the rear for track purposes.

RSA's suck. And a little heat in them helped hook on the very little amount of VHT that was on the line.

No way the track or the tires would take a high brake torque launch.

Ill get some old lumina wheels and slicks and go back again is all.

looks like i might have to show you how to race that car. 1.9-2.0 60's should come easy. You and brent both get to trigger happy with that throttle

It's a start point. With 9 runs, i tried every way i could think of to try and launch it quickly w/o blowing the tires off.

Got lucky once and went in the groove a big tire car made right before me, thats when it went 14.0 taking out a LT1 Camaro in the process LOL

It just seems like after that tune, it comes on all to quick... Where it was linear stock.

But i did crank the ETC settings to 100% for all torque settings, they had a progressive climb vs torque stock... maybe thats what hurt launch ability...

I will also try removing the headlight once too... i didnt have a 7mm to remove the top screw on it.

Ill get back there soon.

Take out the spare and jack and try to run with a 1/4 tank. Lower the front tires a little more and see how much higher of an rpm you can launch at.

Dam good for FWD @ 325 ftlbs! I'll have take mine before the summer is over.
I think the TC is a little on the high side which should help.

Im curiuos about the SRT... Did you get a chance to notice if he ran again if so what was his times?

Let us know what you get on your next outting.

I would have not guessed the times would be so close with the cost being lop sided to the SRT/RT.

Nice runs.
