Default anyone familiar with programmers

The new Diablo sport to be specific. I just bought an 07 impala ss and I know nothing about programmers. I wonder if a guy could use it and if something happens from beating on it and iI needed warranty work could I reflash it to go back to normal when you bring it in for service. Would it matter? I'm sure after reading that you can tell I know nothing about these things.

If they DID work on the '07, yes, you could reinstall the OEM program into the ECM. Once you hook it up, the first thing you do is backup the factory program. In doing do, this "marries" the programmer to your vehicle. If the dealer installs a new program into your ECM, you could then reinstall the Performance tune and be all set.

However, does anyone know if the dealer would know if there was a different program in there? I would assume so, which is why Diablo tells you to reinstall the factory program should you need to go in for service.

When I questioned Diablo about my surge issue they indicated they apply adjustments to the factory tune implying they don’t replace everything.

Hypertech has said to restore the original tune before service but provided the reason that dealer diagnostic equipment expects the parameters to be within a set range and if there not, the diagnostic equipment could assume or indicate a problem exists within the system.

IMO it’s best to restore the factory tune to avoid any headaches with the dealer.

Perhaps sending your stock ECM/TCM out to someone to tune it would be easiest and most cost effective.

In reality the engine tune wise, its pretty hot from the factory believe it or not. Trims were pretty spot on, AFR was really close and timing was about around 27-28 * already. The tranny is pretty well protected by aggressive TM. But really the tranny tune up is the most and best part of what i did to me car using HP Tuner's. Made the shifts firm enough to feel, re arranged up shift points as well as down shift points and removed all TM except for leaving 40% in it on the 1-2 shift. But that alone made the car really fun to drive.

You would think that if it works for the 06 shouldn't it work for the 07?

What he said... I read somewhere they went to the new 32-bit processor for 2007. They needed a faster processor to montior more parameters quicker.
