Have you checked with MPD yet? Their web site says that they have an air box that works with their hood. I am planning on calling them to get a price on the hood and air box. I will post any info I get from them.

Yes, someone is currently working on the "batman" design hood...which will be fully functional with the CAI they make...is it maybe Cold Air Industries? I believe kissmyss03 is the one that they used to form it up...not sure, though.

EDIT: here it is:

What I'd like is a hood with a subtle power bulge or something that doesn't look like it belongs on a Civic or something.

But there's nothing worse than having nothing to show for it beneath the buldge.

Well... there is a V8 under there!

It doesn't have to be a tall cowl - yuk, just a subtle bulge to differentiate it from V6 Impalas... like the hood on the M3 vs. a regular 3-series BMW.

Are Monte Carlo and Impala hoods interchangeable? They look very similar.

Yes...they're identical. OEM p/n 89023526. Although the insulator pad beneath the hood is different between the two...not that it matters, really.

Yes, but very low-profile. 1" would be ideal.

I talked to Eric at MPD wednesday night. He told me that the hood for the MCSS and Impala SS should be ready in february. It is a fully functional ram air hood. Hope this helps.

Fully functional . . . . .more details please. Do I ahve to buy a $400 intake to go with the hood or does it work with minor modifications to the stock box?

This one? No thanks! I'm not 16 years old. I don't want my Impala to look like it belongs in the 'Transformers' movie... can someone please make a hood that will actually look good on our cars and not like it belongs on a Honda?! Whatever happened to the design motto, "less is more"?

^^ Haha.. I'm with stupid.

I'd rather spend the $ that'll get more ponies under the hood. If you have a fancy hood, better have some power underneath to back it up.. more than a stock LS4... otherwise it's just a bunch of RICE lol

The MPD hood was designed to work with the Cold Air Industries box, i believe.

TO THE BATCAVE!

I'd buy something like this... (some Photoshop to illustrate)

I really like this aftermarket CTS-V hood. Nice and simple - not "rice". If someone made one like this for the Impala and Monte Carlo, I'd definitely buy one.
