The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I've got over 11,000 miles on my Magnaflow system since September, and I feel the system sounds very good for the car's image. Not too loud, not too quiet. Very nice V8 rumble near the backside of the car, but I really doubt you can tell it has a V8 if you're riding along side of it. I couldn't hear the car above traffic the other day when my friend gunned the engine for me.
BADDLS1SS and eddiemoney have vids posted showing a couple different options.
No, the car sounds NOTHING like the GMMG (link in my sig) on my Z28SS, not even close (listen to 98Z28's link above to get an idea of what a Z28 sounds like). My Z will scare the **** out of anyone in a 360* radius, the MCSS cannot.
The resonator is there to muffle the 4 cylinder helicopter sound. I wouldn't remove it until you disable the DoD.
With all that said, I've logged 15K miles in 5 months in the MCSS. Absolutely love the car - last 3 drivers were last gen V6 Impalas. The V8 MCSS blows the cars away, can't complain about anything other than the DoD.
Treat yourself to the mufflers at a minimum. I'd personally buy the MF system and put the tips BuffaloSS sourced for me.
Good luck!

It has been 4000 miles since I have installed. It is sounding better and better. Mine still has resonator and inside resonance during cruising is minimum.
From inside,
You can also hear my K&N Aircharger sound everytime I rev it.

the below is from memory, but it is pretty close;
back in around '98 or so the LT1 Impala SS crowd contacted Corsa about making a cat-back for the big Caprice cars. Low and behold! Corsa said that the R&D was done on it and they would be making them available in the Spring (sound familiar?).
Spring comes and goes, Corsa hems and haws, finally saying that they were close to production. A year or two goes by. They are contacted again, this time their story is that they are about to BEGIN R&D on the b-body install. It seems that in the two years since they had completed research and developement for the b-body kit, the mounting points and measurements of the cars had changed (presumably some sort of magic growth or shrinkage is at play here as my car sat in the driveway). Unless....just maybe, they had, er....mispoke about the R&D being completed previously.
Anyway, the R&D was due to start any day and then a system would be ready....YES, the next Spring!
Repeat the above story another time or two until last year at this time. Last I read, Corsa was again ready to start R&D and that a system would be forthcoming.
8 years after their initial statement that they were ready to begin production in a few weeks and that everything was all set and there is still no system for the b-body.
Does this mean they won't make one for the w-body? Nope, just proves that the company would rather stroke you by saying 'you are important and we will make a system for you' instead of 'we have no plans to do anything, but we will tell you we are so that you maybe don't buy a competitors cat-back while we decided if we want to produce it or not.'
I hope they do make one, the more aftermarket stuff, the better. Would I believe that company without proof?
Not hardly.
I'll second the compliment on Corsa's tips. I've been looking for a set to replace the MagnaFlow tips and Kaz just pointed out the Corsa set on the 00-05 Monte. I'm waiting on an eMail back from Corsa to see if they sell them separately. They are gorgeous! If they won't sell them separately, I may end up purchasing the dual 3.5" tip setup for the Mountaineer and cutting off and rewelding the tips onto my tails. It's expensive, though, at $130 through the cheapest place i found it.
