ls4 vs ls2 tb
#2
Just to add to this, I still wonder if a LS2 intake will bolt on to the LS4, and work with little or no other modification. It may sound crazy, but I've heard it may work. I am still looking for a larger gm maf sensor that has the same connector wire pattern. The LS2 has a diff wiring connector. I have yet to check the ls2 wire diagram. I am sure it could be done.

well im not worried about the tb itself. what im wondering is the bolt up. i know some of the ls2's are 4 bolt. this will play heavily on what i do in the future.
the ls4 is 4 bolt, just trying to match something up

The bolt pattern is different, the LS2 is much larger/bigger pattern. There is a vett and a ss trailblazer here. Interestingly the Trailblazer SS has a truck intake manifold, and the throttle body for the LS2 in the SS and the 5.3 in the reg Trailblazer have the same part #'s, and are large, At least the SSTB is. Now the 5.3 motor in all the trucks seems to have the same part # mass air flow sensor housing. The Trailblazer SS has a diff/larger MAF housing. I hope this makes sense, it barely does to me. I would like to sit all the ls powered cars and trucks next to each other and compare intake components. I slowly have been doing this over the past few weaks it seems.

I think the intake is the least of the worries when it comes to making a decent HP gain on these motors....
This is like gaining 15hp from a fast intake on a modded motor... not worth 1G to me for something i wont even feel.
Put a cam or rockers in it if you wanna stop dicking around.

My goal is to find GM parts that will work on the ls4, since there is not much aftermarket stuff for this vehicle. It seems that if it would ever come time to do more serious mods, the intake system may be a week link. If an ls2 intake would bolt on (and function properly) that would flow plenty for the little 5.3 even if cammed with ported heads... Then the big throttle body would of course fit. The maf/iat housing is another issue. Since both the ls2 and ls4 maf/iat contain the same sensors, maybe some clever wiring would make the ls2 maf/iat housing compatible with the ls4 (since the connectors are different). If all this were to work, the ls4 intake system would no longer be a weak link and the little 5.3 could be quite a screamer. Then there is the trans issue. Well there a lot of aftermarket stuff out there from the years of the super charged 3.8s running around.
Thats all I have for now, a little slow at work today.

i may wonder down to the warehouse later and take a look at some stuff
the ls2 4 bolt tb vs ours is what im after {the tb bolt pattern} will play a huge roll in what i do
p.s. there is a turbo ls4 now.

I wouldn't swap the intake manifold alone to gain power. Just being hypothetical mostly. A larger iat/maf housing with the same plug as the ls4 is what I would like to find but looks like may not exist.

Yesturday I was eyeballing the diff in the tb's. The ls2 bolts are about 1/2 inch farther apart than the ls4 across the top. I actually marked them on 2way radio antenna. Let me know what you want measured exactly if this doesn't answer your quesion.

im checking 4 bolts off older trucks to see what i can do. there is a reason why im doing this.
you'll thank me later

Well I looked at an 01 tahoe and an 07 old style pickup, both have 3 bolt bolt pattern. Let me know what you had in mind and I might be able to see (measure) one. A new style 07 avalanche has a smaller 4 bolt tb. I know the maf/iat have diff part no.s also, it may be larger than the ls4's and has the same connector as the ls4. I just can't go get one and start tearing it apart, yet.
