Easy to confuse the two from the front, that's for sure!

Either way SS > GXP

As mentioned in another thread I saw, the spaceship interior on the GXP really turns me off to it

"there’s that 0-to-60 time of 5.6 seconds, the quarter-mile turns in 14.2 seconds at 101 mph, and the ungoverned top speed is 154 mph. Much to our surprise, the SS turned out to be 0.1 second faster from 0 to 60 and in the quarter-mile than the identically powered but 132-pounds-lighter Grand Prix GXP we tested last fall.
A stop from 70 mph used up only 172 feet, a couple of feet better than the larger-braked GXP could muster." Car and Driver
The SS beat the GXP on All season RSA's VS your summer performance tires. Which tells me that if I only change the tires on my SS it will beat the GXP by an even wider margine. If you bought the GXP to brag about its handling you have more money than brains. I have driven the SS and GXP on track and in solo 1. My wifes old 03 Grand Am GT posted better lap times than the two V-8 powered cars. You should have bought a GTO with the BFG KDWS tires same price, handles better, and will go better in the snow with out having to by another set of tires. Cut the >< crap its a waste of time. Go find the new Acura TL-S race it and talk smack on it.

Technically i bought it for others reasons. Rear door opening 90 degress (easier for my daughters car seat in and out) Trunk space is ridicolous, Not to mention i got them to drop the price alittle over 7k If i wanted a true race car id be in an LS1 or a cobra, not a FWD 4 door sedan. I personally like the wheels, brakes, and the rotors over both SS's. Dont be hatin because its my opinion when i do this <>. I just prefer everything on the gxp then i do yours, makes me a bad person?

my 5.7 0-60 beat there 1/4 mile by 4 tenths just messin i know theres SS's in mid-high 13 class.Anyways is the PCM different from the GP's? our Governed top speed is 143 i believe, ive only pushed it to 139, rev limiter for third

Boys, boys boys ... you all know the MCSS is the best looking / handling / chick magnet of the bunch!!!

Hate to admit I watched some of that NASCAR race, but that was an Impala - it said so on the nose.

Didnt think the IMP and SS were that identical, i just glanced at the race and it was in caution. Only saw the nose. I would think they'd use a 2 door not a 4 door pacecar, oh well, thx for clarifying. I didnt see the impala on the nose

Well, in a stroke of genius, GM/Chevrolet will be using the Impala SS as the model for the Car of Tomorrow races. So they will promote the 4 door Impala SS, but it will run in a 2 door configuration for NASCAR. Which I always thought was the Monte Carlo SS, but I guess not. Somewhat confusing, but I guess it is sounding like the end for the Monte when everything goes rear wheel drive in the next couple of years.

That's NASCAR for you ... since every other manufacturer uses a 4-door with 4" rear doors, why not Chevy? The cars are more like funny cars than "stock cars". Hasn't had stock lines since the Monte Z34 days.

Y'all know my NASCAR rant from the other thread, so I'll spare you tonight ...
