Default 6500 RPM Question

Anyone that has their setup with rollers and spring still running the factory pushrods up to 6500? I was reading somethin about how weak they appear.

Would DoD still work with the LS2 springs in?

stock pushrods will work. DOD will work no matter what you do to the valve train except for increase the lift at the cam lobe.

People are upgrading with Harland sharp rockers, Comp pushrods, and Comp 998x springs (IIRC).

Comp 918 springs, also HS is not the only rocker you can get get.

I went with Yella Terra 1.8 Rockers, COMP 918 springs, COMP chrome moly push rods, and I also went with COMP titanium retainers with COMP valve locks.

Almost always with LS1/LS2 you need to change the pushrods and springs to spin that high. The springs are too weak to handle that easily and alot of M6 guy's over-rev their combo and almost always end up bending a pushrod or 3-8. The springs are not strong enough and you end up with a P-V contact. The pushrod is the weak link and ends up bending. Which by the way is the cheapest thing to break when P-V happen.

I'd change out the springs and pushrods if you plan on spinning it that high.

I understand that but since i want to keep DoD i wa askign the guys that are doing this all the time. I might change the rods some other time but not right now as long as i can keep the DoD and still spin it up to 6500

nikon, ive said it about 52 times in the past....... the DOD can stay no matter what you do as long as you dont change the cam!!!!!!

ive got got rockers, 918's and 7.4" comp rods in mine.... DOD still works and is just as annoying as ever! But i only tolerate it as it does help the mileage slightly.

I wouldnt reccomend spinning the thing to 6500 on stock pushrods however, being they arent stick... they dont see the abuse a 6 speed car would put on the valve train from driveline shocks. But either way they are barely adequate for stock. Your spending 500+ already to do springs and rockers, whats another 120$ in the grand scheme of things?

918 springs, rockers of your choice, hardended 7.400 push rods.

DOD DOESN'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON UP TOP.

No not really. I bent all of mine when I messed up and changed the tables for my Autos' shift points too high. It was suppose to be set for 6200, but It ended up hitting the rev limiter at 6500. I bent all of my stock pushrods with that one mistake.
