What annoys me is when people put SS badges on something that isn't an SS. I've seen a HHR SS and a Colorado SS. It's good for a laugh though.

I like those black steelies, the fake chrome clip ons now are .

But seriously.....that would make a sick impy. Peope would get so nervous with a black on black car, black steelies with Popo center caps, stubby antennas, and a psuedo Dashawk (Laptop) setup. All you need to complete the look is a driver with some CHP aviators.

Thought about it for the past few months, this weekend it FINALLY hit a temp I could get 'er done in a t-shirt and jeans.

The thing was still a biotch to remove with the sun and a hair dryer, but the adhesive was the easy part.

Left a small line in the sheet metal where the last edge pulled awy, will need to have the dent doctor remove it.

Now I'm thinking of moving the SS badge next to the Monte Carlo emblem.

That's the bad part of using heat...it causes the paint to soften too, allowing that to happen. It happened to me, too, from the trailing corner of the bowtie.

I completed the shaving of the rear badge over the weekend. To prevent the trailing edge issue, I first ran fishing line back and forth to cut the double sided adhesive and remove the badge. Went back with some bug and tar remover and the remaining adhesive came off without a problem.

I want to remove the front badge from the grill but the grill looks like it conforms to the shape of the bow tie. How are you guys getting the SS badge onto the front? Are you just overlaying it on top of the area where the grill plastic creates the support for the bow tie?

Thanks for your advice!

Pretty much, JVGN...just clean up the plastic base once you remove the bowtie and slap the SS over it. One guy actually created a metal backing plate and installed the SS on that...and then he riveted it to the plastic base on the grille. Overkill in my opinion, but it was a clean install.

If you need "SS" overlays to change the color, check out the store at NAIOA dotcom.
