Default Engine cover - yes or no??

Is it safe to remove the engine cover on our 5.3L V8 motors? I'm thinking about taking it off, but it looks like if any of those electronic parts/plugs gets wet, I'll be in a world of hurt.

Have any of you SS 5.3L guys removed your engine covers?? Any ill effects from getting wet/rain???

I just take mine off when I go to the strip, It seems to hold a little heat under that cover more.

The engine cover dosent protect anything, mines been off since I got the car home last July 4th. Look at the f-bodys, they had nothing on them.

Yeah - I wish my Z had one like the Vette's have, I musta shopped the internet for 2 years after I got it to get a carbon fiberish one.

Those engines are like a gal who looks great the night before, but see them in the morning w/o make-up ...
