Theres ways to reduce boost turing shifts as well so please don't count that as a issue.

I think you could probably go up to 7 lbs without too much on an issue. . . .Almost 4-5 would be a reasonable amount for daily driving. You would probably shorten trans life. . .but who cars if you can run low 13s easy!

I would love for someone to make a supercharger. . . . .or even better a turbocharger with new exhaust setup. That way we could tune the turbo so it doesn't increase off the line very much, but you once you get rolling, watch out. How crazy would our car sound. . . . .ROAR.. . .. .PSSSSSSHHHHHH....Shift.....ROAR..........PSSSSSSS SSSHHHH

If I did a turbo i would drop the motor, port and polish the heads and add a cam might as well really make it worth while and upgrade the tranny.

Im sure an sts setup wouldnt be too hard to make. There are tons of people running a DIY rear-mount turbo setup for other cars so im sure it wouldnt be too hard to fab it up. Only question is, is there tuning software out there yet for the ls4? (sorry not up to date on ls4 tuning)

Just a FYI, you should worry about the HP you're putting down, not the PSI going in. Depending on the method of forced induction and size of blower/turbocharger the HP can change a lot with the same PSI.

Theirs a guy named knight thomas that makes eletric chargers. Not the typical ones you see on ebay that only do 1 PSI. These use multiple starter motors that have been respun so it can do 10,000 RPMS while staying cool. They run off there own battery's that can be tied into the charging system and controlled Via switch's Depending on the amount of battery's you have you can run the eletric charger for a good while without leaching off of your charging system. The limitation being it runs off battery's but non parasitic to the engine and can be installed on any application. Boost can go as high as you would ever want to 1-50PSI. When it operates depends on how you install the switch "behind the pedal at WOT or manually toggling it".

No flaming agiants eletric chargers. they provide boost as any other super/turbo charger would accept only for a limited amount of time. Theirs just alot of bad mojo with these 1 PSI systems on ebay which is the equivalent to ram air.

Here's the system the question what would the total cost bet for one and how much weight does it add to the car?

Only downside to making power in these vehicles is the tranny. If the tranny would hold up, then go for it. Would be a cool sleeper car for sure.

That would help out alot. BUT, I'm not sure how strong the material in the Trans itself is. The trans is fully the weak point in any Transverse mounted engine.

Default Thomas Knight - Boosthead.com

This is a email i sent to him.

hey i'm navigating your site and i only see eletric charger options for engines below 3.9 liter.
a crew of ours who own the new monte carlo and impala SS's with the 5.4 liter's are interested in using your product in our applications.

Any information would be great , thanks.
THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST IN OUR ESC DESIGNS. THE ESC-750 OR ESC-1000 IS IDEAL FOR YOUR VEHICLE. THERE ARE FOUR ESC MODELS--ESC-350, ESC-550, ESC-750, AND ESC-1000. THE NUMBER INDICATES THE CFM EACH MODEL FLOWS @ 4-5 PSI. FOR EVERY 1000CC OF YOUR ENGINE, CALCULATE 175 CFM. THE ESC-350 IS $1695. THE ESC-550 IS $1995, ESC-750 $2295, AND THE 1000 IS $2495. THE ESC-350 & 550 USE 24V WITH A SERIES/PARALLEL SWITCH FOR SIMPLE CHARGING AND RUNNING. THE ESC-750 AND 1000 USE 48-96 VDC MOTORS REQUIRING A 12V TO 110VAC INVERTER FOR CHARGING, AND MULTIPLE BATTERIES TO POWER THEM. WE HAVE AN ESC-1000 ON A VIPER V10 8 LITER ADDING 250 REAR WHEEL HP, ALL THE WAY DOWN TO A CUSTOM ESC-150 ADDING 35 HP TO A 1000CC BUELL HARLEY. THE ADVANTAGE OF THE ESC OVER MOST SUPERCHARGERS AND TURBOS IS SIMPLE INSTALLATION, NO BELT ISSUES, FULL BOOST COMES IN IMMEDIATELY, AND THE SYSTEM CAN BE SWAPPED VEHICLE TO VEHICLE.
THE ESC COMES WITH A BOOST GAUGE AND SWITCHES. YOU WILL NEED BATTERIES, CABLES, AND PIPES FOR THE ESC, AND ALSO FUEL CONTROL---USUALLY A SIMPLE FMU DOES THE JOB. THE FMU ARE ON EBAY FOR $90 BRAND NEW. A SIMPLE COLD AIR PIPE SET USUALLY IS ALL YOU NEED FOR THE ESC SETUP.
HEAD UNIT SPECS:
800-2000CC (ESC-350) T04E FAMILY HOUSING, T18A50 IMPELLER. 126MM MAJOR, 70MM INDUCER. UNIT HAS 3" INLET AND 2" DISCHARGE. A/R .50-.60
2100-4000CC (ESC-550) T66 FAMILY HOUSING, T18A50 IMPELLER. 126MM MAJOR, 70MM INDUCER. UNITS HAVE 4" INLET AND 2.5" DISCHARGE A/R .70-.85
4100-8000CC (ESC-750 &1000) T88 FAMILY HOUSING, T18A10 IMPELLER.126MM MAJOR, 88MM INDUCER. UNITS HAVE 4" INLET AND 3" DISCHARGE A/R .75-1.05
OUR SIMPLIFIED FORMULA--3.5HP PER 1000CC PER 5 PSI @ 5K RPM IS REQUIRED FOR BOOST--WHETHER DRIVEN BY AN ELECTRIC MOTOR, CRANKSHAFT PULLEY, OR EXHAUST TURBINE (TURBOCHARGER). 1HP = 746 WATTS, AND ELECTRIC MOTORS ARE 50-90% EFFICIENT. OUR ESC-350 MOTOR IS 6.8HP @ 24V AND IS 50% EFFICIENT. OUR ESC-550 MOTOR IS 10.2HP @ 24V AND IS 60% EFFICIENT. THE ESC-750 (15HP @ 48V) & 1000 (30HP @ 96 VOLTS) ARE 90% EFFICIENT.

Interesting. $2500 is cheap (comparitively speaking anyway) too. Wonder if we have the actual room to do it though.

Hmmm, 250 additional RWHP though? Seems like a lot for just adding an electric SC.

Anyone ever add one of these to an LSx motor that anyone knows of?
