Default hit a deer

I hit a deer at 11:30 last night / this morning. It appeared infront of my car and i turned sharply to the left and clipped it with my right headlight and did 3 or 4 360's in the middle of the road untill i could adjust and then went into the ditch/gravel part of the road.

Talk about a experience luckily we didn't hit the ditch until i had control or theres no telling what could of happen. I did not see the deer untill it was like 5 feet infront of me and i'm lucky i didn't hit it head on.

Damage was minimal but i'll never forget doing 360's over and over in the middle of the highway. Thank god it wasn't a brick baricade or monte would be a goner.

Front quarter panel was a little dented and it busted my windshield washer fluid res.

Man, you have the worst luck with your cars.

Glad you're okay! Sorry about the Monte.

I hit a deer in my Grand Am while I was doing 80. I hit it head on. I just had a split second to swerve or just hit it. I chose to hit it. I didn't wanna risk losing control and wrapping my car around a tree. If I had to do it over again, I would have made the same descision. Did $3,000 damage, but everyone walked away. The deer flew up and over the car in the air when I hit it. Depends how fast you're going on whether you should try and avoid it, and I guess what type of road you're on. IMO anything over 50mph and you'd be foolish to try and swerve. Just my 2 cents though. Maybe had I been alone in my car I would have chosen to act differently, but with 3 other people in the car I think just hitting it was safer for everyone and not risking hitting a tree or flipping the car into a ditch or something. Now obviously I probably shouldn't have been doing 80, but that's a whole different story haha. Glad you made it out with relatively no damage and no injuries.

99 bonerville @55 mph + head on collision with deer =
this

deer hit front, wrapped around side--i found a tooth in my driverside pillar. windshield pwnt, both airbags deployed. Airbags burned me, and wrecking my car scared me so bad i had dreams for a week about deer, but my oversized american luxury sport sedan saved me. my lesson = gxp for most driving, but for driving at night during deer season ill be using my 99 gp se.

Wrecking a car sucks! They just don't feel the same afterwords. At least it was minor and no one got hurt. That's what insurance is for.

Drove the car for the first time sence i hit the deer and when i put it in reverse i hear the line pressure in the transmission very clearly over my exhaust cutout. Seems like i could not hear this before and only happens when the tran's is in reverse. When i was doing the 360's i was initially driving backwards at 60mph+ depending on my posistion at the time. What kinda trans damage you think ?

Did the car stall? I spun my GTO on the highway once and ended up backwards and it caused the engine to stall. I'm sure that's not real good on it. Spinning a forward running car backwards and stalling has been the suspected cause of several nascar engine failures. Then again maybe it's just the 9500rpm they run 'em at for hours.

shoulda, woulda, coulda, didn't. Second guessing yourself after the fact ain't not gonna help none (how's that for english?). We can all sit here and say what we would have done, but you just never know until that moment. You don't have time to think, just react.
You could always order one of those "Roo Gaurds" that are all the rage in Australia.
