Default Turbo GXP @ the Dyno.....

First I would like to thank Kevin from Cartuning, I wasn't 100% sure what to expect when we started this project over a year ago but I do have to say it's been amazing to work with him on this and I look forward to many good things on this car.

Ok, so we wanted to see what the kit was doing HP wise so we went to the dyno. Did some pulls and we noticed a problem that we are looking into right now. The curve as you can see below climbs really nice then at 5400rpm it just takes a dive. We are investigating this as it would be nice to rev all the way to 6000rpm but right now Kevin changed the shift points to around 5400rpm so that we don't loose any power and let me tell you.... This car is a ROCKET!!! If we would have known it was doing this at the track we would of had much better times, can't wait till spring!!!

This is with only a Cartuning kit bolted on, and on my car I still have the prototype crossover which has less flow then a production one and no ceramic coating either.

On the 6th pull at 12PSI we got 467.85whp/449.39ft. lbs @5400rpm Can you say highest HP 04+ Grand Prix??????
The kit will ship set to 9psi and we got 421.13whp/408.46ft. lbs however the printer crapped out I could only get 1 printout when we go back to the dyno I'll get the 9psi printout.

Let me tell you, this is extremely amazing for a bolt on kit!

I would guess the valve springs are not up to the task of controlling the valves over that 5400 RPM mark. Still very impressive numbers! Now...if you can get the power to the ground, half-way reliably, then you are really on to something.

Torque curve is the light red line. If you look at the scaling of the graph the torque on the right isn't the same scale as the HP on the left so that's why it looks like the same line almost but you can see using the numbers on the right that the torque peaks just below 450, better if you click the link for the bigger graph.

Im not doubting your numbers, just curious why the torque curve is not normal. Shouldn't it go down when the hp goes up, not mimicing the hp curve? Also whats up with the break at 4.75?

Torque curve looks just fine (table flat). The heads are excellant and when you add boost, you tend to extend the curve up the RPM range. That is what I see in the graph. Once they solve the problem as to why it dies at 5400 (springs/fuel/knock/spark/whatever), I can see another easy 30 horses once it can pull to 6000!

YEah, the car had the same type of torque curve last time as well.

MUCH different then a V6 turbo Grand Prix.

The issue in the middle there, the dyno operator said it could be torque converter related, we're not sure. I'm sending my car to the shop over the holidays to beef up the trans since I'll be away for 2 weeks may as well take this opportunity to get that done so it doesn't break on me. We're pushing for well over 500whp and some quick times at the track next year so at that level, trans sure is going to see some help.

Wow, those are some impressive numbers, definetly more than I was thinking it would make. I'll bet 11's won't be a problem at all next year based on the trap speeds the car is capable of.
