so im running an erand for my manager at work today and im on the parkway and i pass a few cars nothing special and the last one i passed was what looked like an old p.o.s. and im flying by traffic doing about 85-90ish... then out of nowhere i look in my rearview and see the p.o.s. gaining on me and at that point i have my foot to the floor just bout to hit 105 and this guy is still gaining on me and as he goes by i see the a-pillar filled with gauges and whatnot and then i see how he has the exhaust stop just under the middle of the car so i realize it is not the p.o.s. i thought it was. so he flys by me and i try and catch up so he slows a lil and punches it...now im doin 90 at this point and when he hit it he spuns his tires..no joke.. and i hear his turbo spool and im just like what the f at this point lol so we play around a lil more but i wasnt able to catch up to him ..this car was a very legit sleeper

Grand Nationals / GNx's are in my Top 5 favorite cars of all time.
Wicked with window tint, even today a clean one catches my eye. Too bad the interior never fit the exterior and the performance.

either way if it was a Gn or a T there are very suttle diffs. From what I remember with my uncle having one was he had to build braces for the T-tops to keep them from shattering making the GN have that as a disadvantage vs the Regal T. The GNX was a McClaren edition type of car. McClaren racing got ahold aof a few GNs and added bigger exhaust, different badging, tires and fascias and maybe the rims too. They were a little lighter with more boost so they were indeed faster than the stockers.

GNX's: 547 made from GNs taken off the assembly line...same longblock as GN (casting # 6109 block, cam, same 8445 heads from the N/A Regal)...2 more psi in the chip...better intercooler core (for its day)...same tranny with basically a factory shift kit (different accumulator springs and so on)...ceramic turbo...the big ticket item was the ladder bar rear suspension which replaced the factory 4-link; front suspension was stock GN...different exhaust was needed to clear the whiz-bang rear suspension...16" tire/wheel package with Gatorbacks...body add ons (flares, functional vents in the front fenders, badging, serial number plate above glovebox)....13.3 @ 104; a heady number back in 1987 when nothing else domestic was below 14 seconds...that was about it. I had the opportunity to work on and drive GNX #405 years ago; the only difference was that the rear end would rise on launch and not squat as I was used to in my GN.
