downpipe options
downpipe options Hi everyone,
I have a 2006 monte carlo ss with the k&n cai, magnaflow exhuast, and diablo tuner. I am looking into putting on a downpipe, but I am not sure what route i should go. I see a lot of people using the hogan pipe, but at $300.00 for the hi-flow cat pipe, i was wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives. Also, is this mod worth it for the hp and torque increase? Let me know what you'd recommend.

First off welcome to the fourm.
Second, Do a search...!!! There are more then 3-4 topics on downpipes that we use, like or do not like
As for the Hogan DP with a cat, its a good choice, but you do lose some TQ, but again you do gain some HP.

Does anyone know if the Random Technology one will work. I was looking at 3800performance.com and the site says this one will work on a 2000 - present Monte Carlo.

There is very small difference in sound when you go with the magnaflow high flow cat vs a straight pipe.
I would just get the Hogan downpipe with high flow cat. 409 Stainless Steel and he backs his products up.

If I ever have to take the car in for warranty work, would you recommend putting the stock dp back on. I'm guessing that if I go with the catless one i would have to, but if its the high-flow one i could just leave it on.
Hogan I have the hogan down pipe with magnaflow cat. Great product! I went from running 13.8 et's to 13.4 to 13.5 after installing the down pipe. You will get a check engine code though and will need to use a tuner or custom eec file to get rid of it. Diablo made me a custom file that got rid of the code.
