Default Different TB topic revisited

Yes im brining this back up again...

Has anyone figured out what other LSx DBW TB will work with the LS4 wiring pigtail yet?

A 3 bolt TB would be prefered off a 5.3 03+ truck or something as a diff intake with more than just the 4 bolt mount would be employed if iwere go through this. Anyone research the pigtail diffs yet on the truck TB's?

Actually just a brainstorm while having a smoke... I could havea guy i work with machine me an adapter plate... Somehow make an LS6 intake with all the goofy LS4 quirks, then makea dapater that will bolt to the 3 bolt neck with coutner sunk screws... then have 4 drilled and tapped holes in the plate to mount the stock TB to it... If its not terribly smaller than the LS6 opening i dont see it being more of a restriction than that narrowed neck with the D in it...

I will also figure out how to make the intake work around the oil manifold intracacies too with an LS6 intake...

The oil pickup is the biggest tripping point.

At one time I had looked at about every throttle body on a gm car or truck to see what would fit, but never checked the wiring. The trailblazer ss has a simular in appearence 3 bolt tb (unlike the corvette ls2). I can find the wiring diagram for the ls4 tb and compare it to the tbss and others. Back then I did find a larger maf/iat housing that has the same wiring and harness as the ls4. Here is that info.

Silver, if you can go as far as comparing Pin outs on the LS4 vs TBSS LS2 that would be awesome!

Tom, wasn't there someone who tried tossing on the FAST LSX intake manifold, and said that the manifold itself was an inch too big to fit on the top side of the block. (i still don't understand that part since I thought it was only the crank that was shorter, not physically the dimensions of the block)

Fax sent, looks like the tbss throttle body does not have an extra ground and 5 volt ref. that the ls4 has. I'll look around for a larger than ls4 throtle body that at least has the same wires going to it.

SSR cable driven or DBW? 6.0L Vortec MAX pickups cable driven?

Tom, I guarantee if you talked to Mike at Fast Times his buddy that has his own equipment can make up an adapter for ya. Don't know $ obviously, but atleast it's a start.

What WOULD be interesting, is if you take the stock intake off and bring it to AES in town here and have a pair of heads flowed with the stock intake vs. the LS6 intake, and find out that it's not the restriction that some people may be thinking it is.

Well, since the ls4 has a 2nd 5 volt ref and a 2nd ground in the harness compared to just 1 ground and 1 5 volt ref., you may be able to splice the the 2 grounds and 2 5 volt ref together??? It kinda sounds simple enough, but really don't know if it will work outside of fantasy land.

Might just end up using the stock TB, get it ported and call it close enough. I havea guy i work with that inkers with machining stuff all the time, he made me a really slick LSx crank reluctor wheel timing tool that worked great. He does the stuff for free as itsa hobby and i can get it in done in 1-2 days. Perhaps ill try the intake before cam or vice versa... decisions.

What size is the stock throttle body? I haven't put much research into the Impy, it's my wifes, but I'd love to pick it up a bit.

Tom let me know if you need any pinouts. I can get ANY throttle body pin out you want.
