mine will occasionally do that when the evap emiss. code comes up, it does not always set a CEL, but it will kill the remote start function every time. I would scan it and see if anything is stored.

Are you close to the car? Holding down the RS button long enough? I hate these keyfobs...PITA...and the overall RS/Keyless system sucks ballz, too.

Mine's INOP - have to get a smoke test to find out why I can't seem to tighten my gas cap after all these years of driving.

What's even worse is the stupid light on ALL the time. I don't have the time to give the car up for a day - will have to wait 'till the Z's can be pulled out in May.

Nice chassis, just stupid electronics that bring my opinion down overall. I want to keep this car because I like it, but I'm test driving a G8 soon as I can find one.

Ah!! Another person with the same problem I had!!
I was givin 2 key fobs with the car..07 Monte by the way. One stop working before the year was up,, The other is still good. The dealer had to order a replacement, cause they make different ones..Anyhow you have to bring the one you have that you are using now (if you have 2) so iit can be reprogrammed with the new one.
Now for the fun. I was maybe 1 hour at the dealer when they said ok your set to go.
I go home and wanted to check-out the new key fob. thinking maybe it works from a further distance. I push the start buton and THE TRUNK OPENS!,, So i think the progam just swapped the buttons,,,NO The trunk button opened the trunk. Anyhow after driving back to the dealer and them looking at me like i was NUTS.. It was all worth it to see the look an these 2 guys faces!!!
took them over an hour on line with their tech support to get it right.

I've gotten all the updates and new receiver, antenna, and fobs, and it still sucks ***. If it weren't for the loss of climate control, I might consider going with an aftermarket unit. We can start my parents 03 Impala LS from 1000' away without problem...this OEM **** is for the dawgs!

Yup , that's why it wont work. Once the check engine light is on your remote start stops working.

There's a write up for replacing the evap somewhere. Anyways that's the problem as stated above.

Super easy to do if you've done any kind of light repair work before. It is like a $16 part and is located up and behind the rear driver side wheel. Mine failed somewhere around 95k miles and prevented my remote start from working. Finally fixed it a couple months ago because the CEL was getting annoying.
