Default guys, im having trouble doing a burnout.....

oh yeah, these things have traction control dont they?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thdyXsaJmNM

but yeah, i got some new tires that in my opinion put those potenzas to shame, they are federal ss595 drift tires and cost a little more than half the oems.
i had to plus size the rears from 225/50/18 to 235/50/18 but other than that, smooth sailing.

i showed up at the tire place and they jokingly asked if id want to eliminate the rest of tires behind their shop, i happily agreed and asked if they would film

Haha, cool man I remember when I had my old Nova I would go through tires all the time! And at least once a week I would clean all the rubber residue stuck up in the rear wheelwells. People would always ask why I had all that crap in my wheelwells so I would just tell them I ran over some tar!

how DO you do burnouts in these, anyways? I try the rolling e-break trick, and all I get is a horrid popping noise. Other than flooring it from a dead stop, I can't figure it out.

I hope your not seriously saying you roll backwards and then floor it ?? lol
If your question is serious all you do is mash the e-brake down turn traction control off put it in 1st gear and nail the gas. :-\

Really? I actually never did a burn out in my Imp but I would think you could just turn the TC off and mash the gas. Do you really need to use the e-brake in a car with 300+ lb-ft?

Yup. Just don't bother doing it any more - tires last so much longer that way

You don't NEED the ebrake but you won't get nearly as much tire smoke without it. I've only did a crazy smokey one once, I kinda like having a functioning tranny.

e-brake? Nah, t/c on or off, don't matter, just make sure you are going less than 20 MPH and jump on it. Will burn the tires.

IMO a burnout is a fuckload of smoke over the entire car so yes you need to hold the E-brake. No diffrent then rear wheel drive using front locks. Sure you can lay a strip of rubber down without it but don't really get that smoke effect.....

I did a few good burnouts at the track last summer result = new passenger side hub bearing. This year I am putting some slicks on my 17 inch steel rims and I am going to put a show on this year at the track. 160,000km warranty babbby!

This was a good one:

Sorry not a GXP, CompG version, I think that was before the pulley

That was in a burnout competition I would have won if I didn't forget to kill TC on my second spin session. (Turning car off then back on reset it "d'oh") Wanted to win the 50 bucks towards new tires, these were shot when I did this and just about done before I did. By the end of the 45 second spin, you couldn't see anything and the crowd had disperred away from the burnout box

When I try to smoke them on the street the parking brake just doesn't have enough strength to hold the car in place (at the track however it does fine). So I just have 2 strips and plenty of smoke in a nice long line. parking brake really only decides the duration and length of the strips, stomping it has the same effect.

Car ran a 13.749@99 for its best 1/4mile run

EDIT: opps old thread, forgot I was browsing search results not a forum (newbie)
