'08 Impala Ss Owners?
I'm just curious if there is anyone else that has a front end VIBRATION from about 45mph to 60 in there cars? I'v have talked to a couple of people and they say this is a common problem and cannot be cured. They say it's something in the driveline/chassis configuration. Its in all the '05 and newer impalas from what people say. Can anyone elabarote more on the actual issue and does anyone have a cure for it. Any help would be great.
Thanks, Joe

Yeah I notice the same thing sometimes. I like to convince myself that the road imperfections cause it, but i'm starting to wonder now. I've had my tires road force balanced, aligned it a couple times but its still there. It could be the tires themselves, or possible a bent rim. I've learned to live with it.

Joe, I still have that problem, and 3700 miles later the dealers down here do not know what to do to fix the problem. The last time I took it in, I fixed the exhaust so they couldnt bitch at me about that one.

makes me kind of wonder if that's what i felt when i test drove two different 08 impys last fall. after i returned to the dealer, that's what i told them.
car has a vibration like the wheels weren't balanced. salesman said it just came off the truck, might be a wheel weight that fell off. at least
it wasn't just me.

A friend of mine had the same problem, have been to different dealers, wheel shops etc. He even bougth new tires. Had the front end looked at as well as the whole steering column, because of the steering wheel shaking if you take hands off. The conclusion (that was found at slp) was if the car sits for a while on cold ground or in the same position for a certian period of time the air in the tires shifts to high and low spots that cause your tires to feel out of round or out of balance. So as you drive the friction heats the tire and distributes the air around and eventually the feelind goes away. It makes some sence to me. Hopefully this is the same problem you have and it is not a cause for concern.

I had the same prob on my 07. They told me that both of my right side tires had flat spots. So they replaced both tires for free but it didn't fix it. So I went to Big 10 tires and they balanced all for and come to find out that my right front rim was bent. They fixed it for $80 and I took the receipt to my dealer and they reinbursed me.

I'm wondering if one of my wheels is bent as well. I remember a few months ago I was on a road test with the transmission guy from my dealer ( he was driving) and he hit a MONSTER pot hole. I just happened to think of this, I always tend to dodge pot holes as best I can, but accidents happen. I also feel the vibration when the tires are cold, that seems to just vibrate the whole car for about a mile, then it stops. My big complaint is the steering wheel shake, it never was that way until recently.

could be when I got my rim straightened the tech said that aluminum rims bend so easy for obvious reasons. My car was a demo that the dealer was driving for about 4000 miles and I didn't really wanted it because of the miles but I couldn't turn down the 10 grand in rebates.

Joe and I talked today about this and although the problem can be fixed 95% by getting new tires, the funny thing is that we also talked about the weight of the rims and tires OEM vs aftermarket....
Brings up some good points.
