Default Tried out my new DR's @ the track

I bought a set of used BFG drag radials from ebay. 255/60/16's on wheels for $150. I had to get 'em..right? I tried them out at NYIRP friday night.

R/T=.561
60"=2.06
1/8=8.63 @ 83.75mph
1000 ft=11.17
1/4=13.33@103.71

I got my best 60' and 1/8 mile ever. The tires are 26" and the stockers I ran last year are about 28" tall. I think thats why I lost time and mph at the big end. Still close to my best though. I made 7 passes all but 2 of them in the 13.3's. I got my *** handed to me by A modded WS6(12.35), and tubbed out mopar(12.68), but I did beat a new mustang GT (14.71), 200? GTO (14.50), a modded GTP (13.68) and some assorted rice.

Nice time and thats a pretty good 60'. Try to get it down to 1.8 or 1.9 and you'll be close to 12s. Where do you spray the car? Not out of the hole right?

No, not out of the hole. I use a WOT switch. I don't floot the car at he light, I gradually get into it. These cars are tough to keep from spinnin'.

Paul, you need that sweet NOS sticker on your car to get that time.

Yeah, 16's fit fine. The 16's I got are aftermarket wheels. I have no idea what brand. The guy I got 'em from ran them on his S/C regal. So I would assume all the W-body wheels fit each other. I've seen guys use GTP wheels as well as 00-05 impala/monte wheels.

Most of the 1/4 is covered in 2nd gear in our cars. While spraying that 100 shot in 2nd and the bottom of third with DR's you managed a 13.29?

Showing a few points of reference, there is no way he didn't use the spray... Unless he has mods he isn't telling us about.

I am just saying with DR's alone he should be running 13.6's to 13.7's stock. If he is spraying at WOT then he is nearly in 2nd by the time he hits WOT and that extra 100 shot should be worth more than 3 tenths. The engine is going to wind up faster on the spray which means he's going to see 3rd gear sooner and he is still spraying in 3rd. It just seems he should be closer to 13.0's maybe high 12 second passes. I managed 2.1 60 ft. times and I am a new to drag racing. Obviously Kiss is a good driver, with spray and DR's he would easily be in the 12's.

Actually, the 13.29 was with street tires last year. My best 60' was a 2.18 and my best 1/8 was an 8.67 on the stock RSA's. The DR's are a little smaller than the stock tires. 60' and 1/8 mile times improved, but I'm losing time and mph at the big end of the track. The only change from last year are the DR's, so that has to be what's slowing me down. I have to find some 28" tall DR's and try em out.

If you can run a 13.3 stock with only drag radials then you have a factory freak, or your track is downhill and shorter than a 1/4 mile.

There are so many variables when comparing timeslips. Especially if you're talking about track differences. I've run at 3 different tracks. Tracks are going to have bumps, hills, dips, bad prep, etc. that vary from one to another. Don't forget about weather, elevation, and driver weight. I'm a 6'4" 340lb. monster, I know that slows me down. We can go around in circles over who ran what and why. Unless you get the same cars at the same track on the same day, you can never get an accurate comparison. Ive made almost 50 combined 1/8 mile and 1/4 passes with my car since I got it. I've never ran the exact same time twice.
