Default HOT consule

Hey there. New to this forum, thought you guys might help me out. Got the wife an 08 Impala SS. She loves it. Problem is that the consule gets hotter than hell while driving. I work at the Chevy house and have never had any SS owner coment or complain about it. Is this a common issue with these cars or do I have a problem car? My luck with this car and my new HHR SS I bought is not going well so far. The Impala already got a new paint job due to the fact that the dealer in Austin we got the car at doesn't loki ti wash the bird S**t of the cars on the lot and etched to paint. Alignment was off from the factory and the tires had roadforce something bad. But all is well after I fixed the mechanical issues and got the car painted at the shop. Any ideas? Thanks.

How long have you had the resonator delete? That may be the issue, because the resonator is under the consule.

Where exactly on the "console" is it getting hot. The shifter console has almost nothing in it its a hole except for the shifter and a wiring harness. As for RES delete i have the same thing and havn't noticed any added heat. Also i'm assuming its only getting hot while the car is running ? or is it hot when first get into the car.

I remember a lot of people complaining about this a long time ago...but not many since. Mine used to get REALLY hot around the area where my leg rests, but haven't noticed it much since I started using Mobil1 synthetic oil in conjunction with the Magnaflow exhaust.

Yeah BuffaloSS, its where your leg rest along the consule just ender the dash. If you feel back towards the rear by the deat it carries the heat to there. The shifter and the arm rest do not get hot. First oil change is due in a few hundred miles and planin to put mobile1 in it. Hopefully that will help.

I get the heat too. I still have the stock exhaust. I notice it more on highway driving though. It's never given me any trouble so I don't bother with it.

Yeah, I like that HHR alot. Great gas mileage (32MPG) hwy. I dont think its faster than the wifes SS, but real close. It's an automatic. My roomate has the stick. Plenty of blown trannies on the stick side I hear. The auto is holding up good. New tune out for the HHR from Hahn Racecraft that will boost power substancially. If your dealer has one for 18K it.s a stripped down version. But the 09's are hard to come by right now.

I notice the heat from the consule more while driving on the highways on long trips. Only thing there is the resenator. Going to the track in a few days to test the HHR SS. Possibly the Impala too.
