Default speed governor?

What's the factory governor on the GXP's? I want to get my car dyno'd but I don't know if they'll be able to take it to the top of 3rd.

EDIT: nvm finally found it searching, 143 mph. guess i'll have to see what i can do about getting rid of that prior to dyno time.

I seen one on youtube GXP doing 154mph. I did 224 kms

140 is what the stock tune says in hpt... must have been programmed. er gxp hmm maybe they made that higher.

161 on the 07 gxp

yeah i've hit 140 and then shut off, ran out of room. I'll see if the tuner can hook up HPT before going on the dyno. Maybe if I just tell him to reduce or just turn off TM, firm up the shifts, change the PE values, and take off the governor he won't charge me a full tune fee.

Good luck! HP tuner is based on a credit system used to license your car to tune it. It'll cost 2 credits just to be able to change anything in your ecm or tcm. So most likely you will be charged full price for adjusting a few or a lot of values. But most tuner shops won't charge you full price if you come back to your tune altered due to mods or wants. Just talk to your tuner shop and see what they can do for you. Thats how I do it when I tune cars.

well that explains the 140 speedo.. ive heard thou top speed is like 153ish?
heck ive got to like 125-130 for little bit and of course ran out of room on highway curve ahead can only get 100 on the inside before floating over 3 lanes.. either way those speeds kinda scare me specially with other dirvers around not knowing whos gonna move over 1/4 ahead of u.. i dont think its the speed scaring me as much as the possible risk down the road between a cop i might fly by siting on shoulder somewhere or a car moving over into my lane ect than the actual speed.. the monte handles very nicely at high speeds.. maybe a little floaty thou.. even going straight seems maybe i might fly off.. not off the road..but up lol

no idea what top speed I've gotten to while actually driving, assumed just by judging the rpm's while in drive, calculated speed came out to around 153-157 give or take a few rpm's on stock tune. When I ran a dyno on the car with stock tune, was curious as to what stock HP output was, we did a top speed run in drive. While in 3rd we got to 157 I think before hitting the rpm limiter, while in drive hit 160 and then the speed limiter kicked in, stock tune.

You can set it way high in HPT to get rid of it.

yea that pisses me off i do belive the grand prix does show 160 while monte shows 140 on the speedo.. anddddd the gxp soltice shows 160 as well wtf is up with 140 on a monte

Its because they used the infamous parts-bin tactic across the entire Chevrolet-branded "SS" line, including Monte Carlo and Impala's. The interior of the two are virtually identical, sans the considerably better bolstered seats in the Monte. Imapla SS seats are just terrible.

it would be scary to drive over 140 in these in a corner even with better suspension, tires etc knowing how they crush up like tin cans in an accident.
