I have the pics as promised...just give me your email and I'll send them off. I never really looked it over that well, but I am assuming that it's actually an Auburn unit (it looks nothing like the Torsen unit I just took out of my 2000 Z28)...maybe someone can shed some light on this.

I bought this from a board member stating that it was a series 2 torsen unit from a 2000 Formula. After a quick comparison, I realized that it was a series 3.
I really didn't start comparing it to mine until I took these pics. I then realized that it wasn't a torsen unit either. I am now starting to even wonder if this even came out of an F-body. I hope some board members can clarify.
Hopefully I can find out exactly what the hell this thing is so I can get rid of it and get what I need. I apologize for the confusion.

that is some type of GOV LOCK carrier....maybe gm corporate?I think they used those in the s10 pickup trucks...its works like this:if one wheel spin 150 rpm's faster than the other that spring loaded weight comes out and locks the unit up.They also used those in the bigger pickup's.Are you sure it is a 10 bolt 7.5 inch carrier?

trust me on this...i've worked on quite a few...that NOT a auburn or torsen...its built for truck heavy duty use....its not very good for car street use because it stays open until it slips...then it locks solid...it was made for mud-snow type situations.

its not good because in order for it to lock the wheels must slip first...then after it sees slipage it locks............auburn and torsen don't work that way...they basicly keep the carrier preloaded in a semi locked position...SO when you really need it the power is applied to both at the same time...instead of a slip-lock situation, like i said a locker is good for offroad-snow-rian type situations.....its either LOCKED or OPEN...auburn and torsen can mode inbetween this by partially loading each axle against each other....the locker can't do this.
