Default Msd = Junk

I had a MSD coil that just went south on me and had caused a weird idle etc for a while, I decided to get a 96 style coil for my 94 and its just a few minor wiring changes that you have to perform, I will try to get a pic on here in the next few days, the coil itself is actually a few bucks less than the 94 style and as many on here have said its supposed to be a little bit better for whatever reason. I think if you don't have FI or run N20 then a stock coil obviously seems to work just fine and they are obviously avail and cheap.

just looking at your sig, if you have all that you prob need a full ignition system, I have always heard the Accel 300+ system for LT1 was the best thing avail.

The 96 coil is a little better because they began aiming for 100K tuneups.

When I put an ccel 300+ on the car I notice no difference, I left it in place for the rev limiter though.

No one has tried a Jacobs? Or is it just not available... I am too lazy to look.

I have a 96 coil on my block but I just switched to a 94 body... never thought it would cause any issues guess I should check into whats required to update to the 96 coil for the 94 cars... not sure what could be different... looked the same to me.

I have a 94 and the stock coil worked flawlessly for 14 years, 100k+ miles! Only reason I changed it was because I replaced the entire ignition when I went with nitrous.

I recently installed a MSD blaster coil and had problems with the car missing and stuff, i called MSD and told them that i could see no arcing off the wires but they were stock wires, i did notice a constant arcing on the coil and MSD said that that was static discharge which is normal they also said to replace my wires with better ones that could be the issue. I bought a set of 10.2 MM wires and installed them with NGK TR55 plugs and coated the MSD with a little bit of dielectric grease and now the car runs like a champ!

I like the MSD coil when i installed it the throttle response is much crisper and the car seems to have more power!!

I replaced my stock coil with a Crane. My car is on blocks, and hasn't been driven in a very long time, but it does run.

Seems to be another hit or miss on some cars. Each car will act differently, regardless what year and/or which coil. I've used the MSD one before, but failed in a short time. Now I have the Accel coil along with my MSD ignition box, wires,etc...seems to be holding up with no issues.
