Default Is 58mm T.B. too big?

Some say no, some yes. Does anyone have any input? I also thought about the GMS MAF. Any advice on the MAF? I plan on putting long tubes in a month or so. I will eventually do a cam and do some head work. Thanks!

I ended up buying the MAF and a real cold air kit instead of having a modified factory box, I noticed alot from those mods, probally more from the cold air kit. What problems do you know of with the GMS MAF?

You'll have to port your intake manifold if you wanna run a 58MM. 58 is better for forced induction, but 52MM is much simpler to do with a stock manifold. I'm running a stock manifold with FI, and I've got a 52MM. I'm going to make the switch when I change manifolds, eventually.

the granatelli fools the ecm into thinking its getting more air than it really is, TPIS actually ports the hosing, so it actually flows more air. i never had a GMS maf on an f-body, i had one on my s10 with the 4.3 and it would always throw code, so i removed the screeen on my factory maf, and ported it, and no codes.

That's interesting, I never knew that.

Thanks guys,,, well i already am throwing codes due to my exhaust leak,,, so I haven't checked if i have a new one. My car pulls a hell of alot harder, I really noticed it in 5th gear, Saturday was the first day I have been past 145. I buried the speedo and was doing 15*? mph. Then pussed out after I saw a hill coming up. I really like the Moroso cold air kit. One thing I also notice on cold air kits is the exhaust always seem to get louder.

Will I lose any throttle response? Or should I just buy one and don't worry about it?

first time I buried the speedo Iwas going apeshit. Partly out of excitement and partly out of fear that I was about to die in 10 seconds. lol

you will get better throttle response so dont worry about losing any response. The 58MM will still be better than your stock TB, but it may be so large that you gain volume and lose velocity which will hurt performance on the big end in comparison to the 52 mm. If you had a pretty good setup(good heads, decent sized cam, ported intake, full exhaust and full intake setups) your engine would be sucking so much air that the air flow would still have good velocity with the 58 MM TB and you would be alright.
