Default Can I run a intake like this on my lt1?

http://www.intakeelbows.com/ ---- Second picture down. Could I run something like this on my lt1 engine. Do they sell a intake that would work? If so what else would I need to change - would I need different heads or run something else to make this intake work

in short yes you can, will it be easy, no. It will require some fab work on the hood for clearence. If you hop on camaroz28.com there is a thread about single plane intakes in the LT1 section. There are lots of pics of setups with guys running similar things to the 2nd pic your talking about. I dont know what manifold you planning on running with it or what TB would work too, but i do know it will be expensive.

were you talking about just the elbow or did you mean the entire manifold?? because i believe that manifold is a ls intake.

i wunna go single plane sometime next year and ive found that the super victor, victor, victor jr, ect.. intakes work best but then again it all depends on what range you want as well as other things.. hth

They make intakes for LT1s like that, as well as elbows to use LS throttle bodies on those carb intakes. They used to (might still) make elbows to use our stock style twin port throttle bodies on carb intakes.

they dont make those elbows (for our tb) anymore. i heard they can custom make them still but i personally would use that as an escuse to go ls style..
and im sorry i should have been more specific. i know they make those style intakes for lt motors, its just that the site specifies ls and ford motors... thats why i said i was pretty sure it was for a ls motor.

and also to the o.p.

i forgot to mention. you have to get the intake/or heads redrilled to match, if you dont get an intake with provisions for injectors, then you need to machine them for that aswell as fuel rails and all that good stuff. like i said i havent done it....so im not 100% what all you need but there is a good start.. i think lol

not to take this thread too far off topic, but how come more people dont use a 4bbl tb on top of the intake. seems like it would be less clearance issues but could be totally wrong.

Parts list to do a single plane conversion
Intake (Edelbrock Vic-E EFI has injector provisions)
Elbow
Machine work (to match bolt patterns)
Fuel Rails
Fuel Rail Fittings
Hose
Hose Ends
Adapters to convert factory line to AN

Fuel Pressure Regulator

If you don't use our elbow you will need
Throttle body
Fabricate throttle cable bracket and possibly new cable
TPS
Intake tubing from TB to MAF, Filter

We can supply everything you will need to do the conversion except for the machine work. I prefer to have the heads drilled for the SBC bolt pattern rather than converting the manifold.

I had one of the first elbows that Aron did at intakeelbows.com

I ended up going 90mm on my new motor.

Did you happen to document all of the measurements when you did yours, so
that you could duplicate the manifold without having to do it all over again?
It seems like something that would have at least a decent demand if you could produce them.
Even if only on a small scale (IE: made as ordered, or very few in stock)

My heads have the SBC and LT1 Bolt pattern.

I did not convert the intake. We spoke with a local machine shop about converting intakes and it was not cost effective for us to outsource that work. Any local shop should be able to handle the bolt pattern conversion for you.

The elbows are built to order just like our LS1 version.

Quick Reply: Can I run a intake like this on my lt1?
