That is how it goes, third gens are coming up in value for some reason, it is too early for that but they are.

I paid 11,500 for my 96 WS6 Formula M6 Hardtop cloth int w 27,000 miles last june.
Well worth it to me! Its the exact car ive wanted since I bought my very first f-body. It was a new 96 firebird V6. Next year I bought a 97 Formula then a 00 formula but always wanted a 96 WS6 formula M6

GTA's didn't come in V6 flavor. GTA was the creme of the crop for 3rd Gen.

i dont find it sad, i just find it as an opportunity for alot of people to get into the F-Body world and maybe mod it and race it and join the forums.

as previously stated, thats just how things go. cars get older and certain people deem them less desirable, leaving the door open for people like me. i will take advantage of the situation and maybe pick up a second fourthgen in the near future.

i was happy to pick my mint formula t-top up for $6800.

There are some decent LT Headers out now for the LS Based Engines into a 3rd Gen..when they come out with some for an S-10 Swap, then that will be nice.

I was in the same boat. I was trying to get rid of a rust free 91 Firebird roller, interior was there but in kinda sad shape, $250. Um I ended up pulling some parts off it and sent it to the scrapper. Tried for about 4 months to sell it as a roller, no luck. If it had been a Camaro I would have kept it and done a LS swap. I'm just not a 3rd gen bird fan.

There are Irocs on Ebay going for the same and in some cases more than their original sale price.

I wouldn't expect 4th gen values to start to rebound until the 5th gen Camaro has gotten "old" in the eyes of the general public. And if GM sticks to its guns and really does never end up building another Firebird, (6th gen?), I think we may see 4th gen Firebirds and T/A's begin to appreciate sooner than 4th Gen Camaros.
I agree here. They will be worthless, before price goes up. You will see them become more and more rare as people trash them or total them out and newer models develop.

I could care less either way. I have had my car since 98 and it was big bucks then.

all cars that i have bought have been to keep or pass down, in the car business either you get fucked when you buy the car or you get fucked when you sell it. at the end of the day your still getting fucked, lt1's are ******* sexy that mean look they have is awsome, the same as those 3rd gens, ive seen some nice ones out there

Another factor that might come into play that could potentially help 4th gen street values start to rise sooner rather than later is if OBDIII comes into effect.

lol I hate to burst your bubble again, but the front and rear bumpers on 3rd gen's are the same. Ground effects were what set them apart and the GTA and TA's got non-functional hood nostrils, GTA got cool tail lights and special gold colored snowflake rims (white, red, charcoal and black were available to the TA). I put both of them on my 91 I had to paint them black since I prefer that, to Red with Gold rims heh Even though the tail lights were not the nicer 91-92 GTA (2 piece) but the older 3 piece style, had to re-wire my tail lights for them :\ GTA got steering wheel mounted audio controls too, but meh on them. My 91 Formula got them too, as does my 93, neither of them worked due to aftermarket decks and me not caring enough to get the adapter for my 93 And all Formula and GTAs got WS6, TA was optional.

Great for buying, terrible for selling.

With the economy the way it is right now, and winter comming up (at least for the northerners dealing with snow), people just want to get what ever they can for them.

call it what u will, front end ,looks like, same as, etc.
like i said they looked like, had the front bumper, square foglights,
decklid was the short spoiler.
im not concerned with the details since my intentions for the car are not to restore it. I did find the v8 tpi version and even 3 v6's with the same front bumper as the GTA. but they were hardtop. and the v8 i found was medium blue with silver and ttops

Unless you are speaking of the 91/92 Third gen you are incorrect. The 85-90 all were ither a firebird base line or a TA/GTA which had the GFX package woth a different nose and rear bumper cover. The RS and Z28 were the same from 86-90/91-92 but the bird was different for the upgrade, the formula was the only one that was similar to the V6 car except the 91/92 bird. Even the older 82-84 camaros were different from the base to the V8 package.

This is a good thing in my opinion and I hope it stays this way. These cars should be affordable for anyone that wants to join the hobby. It would be a great thing in my opinion that no matter what life throws at me I can always afford a Camaro to tinker with and enjoy. I never have purchased a car as an "investment" and I pity anyone that does.
Cars should be used and enjoyed. When your done enhancing and enjoying it then sell it and purchase a different car to enhance and enjoy.

I say give it 10 yrs. & you'll see the value start to rise for the LT1 cars, the LT1s lost there value sharply after the LS1s came out, now the LS1 cars are starting too fade & loose there pazzaze, just like anything, they will start being worth something, because down the road in the next decade, they will start wanting them back & remembering how cool they were, right now the supply is HIGH & demand is LOW, that drop values, once it starts taking off, the demand goes UP & the supply goes DOWN because there getting more rare, but i like things the way they are, i paid 4300.00 for mine, i still like the car dispite its issues & high $$$$ parts, in say 30 yrs. these cars will be worth a chunk of change, i had two 3 gen. camaros, one was a low miled V6 RS, & the other was a 305 Iroc with that awsome "Medium Quazar Blue Mettalic" paint, i bought it for 1600.00 back in 01 or 02, back then they weren't worth much. I think the 3rd. Gens have nothing on the 4th. Gens in looks, i love the looks of my Camaro, i loved them when they first came out, IMO, the 3rd. Gens are just too boxey.
