So now the new question is, how hard is it to change the ac compressor? anyone have a write up or anything or will my chilton book get me through it? i havent looked in it to see if it covers ac stuff so ill have to look tonight when i get off work. So anyone give me any pointers on doin this. thanks

should just be get the refrigerant out, unbolt lines, disconnect and unbolt compressor. you should put the system under a vacuum then recharge it afterwards. pretty straight forward.

they are the same but if you have an automatic tranny then the ac compressor is different compared to a car with a manual tranny. I just found that out today.

how are they different?? its easy there is like 2 bolts holding it on...and then 1 bolt on the back of it holding the line place...its really easy to do but its a b i t c h getting your hand up in the back...maybe be able to take the alt off and go from the top to make it easier but i doubt it...worth a try though sooo

i dunno whats different but thats what the mechanic says and on the checker website it lists two different kinds. ONe for an auto tranny and one for a manual. so i dunno what the real difference is.
