Most people worship both the 305 and 503. The thing that turned me away from both are the higher powerbands, both 6200-6300+ and i dont want to have to wrap the stock bottom end to that high. I should be able to pull low 12's easily and possibly high 11's with the hot cam and 4.10's

Thanks for the kind words though!

Question, did you have the steam pipe hooked up to the back of the heads? It looks like the holes were plugged. I've read that blown headgaskets at # 7 and 8 are common if you plug them.

I'm glad that the valve springs got there so quickly. Sometimes USPS is kinda screwy, even if it's only an hour away. If you're still thinking about possibly some 1.7RR's, there's a company on eBay selling the same ones I have, except 3/8 instead of 7/16 studs, for like $165, or so. The only problem is that I don't think the hotcam springs would handle the hotcam with anything bigger than 1.6's.

Plans for tomorrow are to take alot more stuff out, radiator, fans, waterpump, opti, PS pump, AIR pump and possibly pull the stock cam. Also want to clean up the intake and possibly get some black engine paint and give it a little paint job.

Will have plenty of pics tomorrow.

Anybody got any tips or things i should be careful with?

A few more pics from yesterday, got the radiator, fans, waterpump, and AIR pump out. Still need to get the last two bolts off the crank hub then that and the opti will come out followed by the stock cam. Then the tear down will be complete and i have to wait for money for new parts haha.

pics-

And finally how the motor sits now...

Got some cleaning and painting to do, i'm gonna get everything i can looking nice and clean before it goes all back together. Anyone know if i could use the high temp paint to paint the water pump, intake, and a few other random things i may paint?

Also is there anyway to easily clean the engine bay and all the wire looms and such? like cover the motor with plastic and just lightly spray the rest of the engine bay and stuff in there off or is it not good with all the unlpuged wires and such?

Haven't had much time to work on the car latlely but figured i'd update...

Hoping this week to get the rest of the motor apart like the crank balancer, opti off, timing chain stuff and pull the cam out.

Starting to order some stuff too, got 1.6 rockers bein held til my next paycheck, also just ordered all my gaskets. After xmas i should be ordering my cam and chromoly pushrods, ARP headbolt, ARP rocker studs, and will be having the heads checked before they go back on for warpage, hopefully there is none.

Will post pics whenever all the gaskets come in and i get a chance to pull the balancer and all that off.

Ya i just went out and bought a heater for the garage so i dont freeze to death out there workin.

Just got off the phone with summit and spent 145 bucks on ARP Headbolts and Mr. Gasket .026 thickness headgaskets. Should be here friday. I decided just to get the headbolts and gaskets outa the way first and then next paycheck i'm buying the comp cams magnum SA 1.6 rockers from a guy on ltxtech for cheap and hopefully gettin the heads checked locally then puttin those back on.

Things are finnally starting to move along slowly but surely. I'll get pics of this weekends work on gettin the rest of the stuff off the motor and the cam out. along with some new parts that should be here friday.

Awesome work! Keep it up, and keep posting pictures! I don't think I recall reading; are you going to do any head work?

That **** means that you somehow have water (or Coolant) in your oil. A lot like that is a pretty good indication that your head gaskets are probably at least leaking... that or you left your hood open, with the valve covers off in the rain.
